[Not long after this.
At first glance, it appears to be Maketh holding the phone. It's her usual uniform, perfectly ironed, hair pinned up in a severe bun. She's standing outside the guardpost, rifle at her side. Everything looks as it ought to except for a single detail. The blue sash that all the guardsmen wear as a symbol of their position is nowhere to be seen.
Oh, and ignore the spray of blood across her chest. That's not important at all.]
Hello, citizens. I fear this experiment in democracy has gone on a little too long. It's high time to dispense with the nonsense and remember where we ought to stand. And what we are.
[She smiles.]
You needn't worry. The Empire loves all his children. All he asks is your loyalty.
[She pauses, glancing back at the guardpost.]
I'm terribly sorry about the mess, of course. But civilization always comes with a price. A gesture was necessary.
[Her tone hardens.]
Guardsmen, report in immediately. I want this under control.

if it were me?
i'd start running.

Oh, were you fond of her?
[The double sneers.]
It's such a shame she died without witnesses. But don't worry. I was careful. I made sure it took a long time.
Sorry, buddo. He ain't about to pay attention when you're being a dickhead, you dickhead. He makes a show of jerking awake at the end of her pronouncement, cracking an eyesocket open to appraise her lazily.]
No, uh. Sorry. Really. Keep going.
Just, y'know. Don't say I didn't warn ya.
[The double grins widely.]
Don't worry. There's a cure for that. Your failure of ideology need not hold you back from the glory of the Empire.
[Oh, he's not gonna do a damn thing. Who d'you think you're talking to? He's the epitome of laziness on the best of days.
But if you think about it, he really don't have to do anything at all.]
You just got to be the number one target for a lot of angry people.
[The double's smile has a mean edge.]
Anyone who followed that traitor will die just like her. Slowly.

[End of the day, she's just one person. And if there's anything he can say for certain about Maketh, it's that she's made a hell of an impact on this cave and the people in it.]
Wasn't just talkin' outta my coccyx on that one.

['Cause he knows most of the members of the Guard - if not personally, then he knows them because Papyrus knows them. And he knows that they've got a great deal of respect for their leaders.
And they ain't gonna be happy about this development. Not a mite of it.
He grins at her. There's a spark of cold triumph in it as something about his words subtly changes, just for a moment.]
Have fun.
