[Looks like someone is taking it upon himself to move into the last empty 1-bedroom apartment. Of course, Prussia has to find out if any of them are unoccupied first. That means you might find a mysterious person with white hair and red eyes peeking through a window of your own apartment, or maybe he'd be caught on the outside looking in by someone visiting or coming home. He's trying to not get caught, but he also doesn't care all that much.

Eventually he'll be found in apartment 801 in spire 1, front door slightly open, as he inspects the place. Though the place is fully furnished, it looks like it's otherwise unoccupied. Prussia doesn't have much to fill it with other than some food he got from the store, and a pizza-shaped blanket he got in the coliseum. Still, he looks pleased with himself. His own apartment! All on his own!]

This is a good place to start over!

You'll have to ask some of the older residents. I just got here. However, the murals painted on the colloseum wall are the closest to records on the city's history since the Door opened. Those could offer you a hint on what to expect.

A few days. I'm one of the new arrivals. I'm guessing you're one of them as well, if you're asking these questions.

I haven't heard of any such undertaking. But from what I've heard the only way in and out of this city is through the Door that brought us here.

there's got to be another way than that weird magical door. we need to start on a digging project or something. if we go upwards we're bound to find the surface again eventually!

You'll have to check with the rest of the residents. The ones that have been here longer might be able to tell you if anyone's tried digging out, or if there's anything up on the surface.

Sorry I can't be of much help. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this place. But if I hear anything relevant or useful, I'll let you know.

thanks, that'll help. if no one is actively trying to get out of here, i have to assume everyone WANTS to stay here. which would be dumb

That's not a fair assumption to make. No one would want to stay in a place that kills them on a bi-monthly basis. What's more likely is that measures have been considered and pursued, but have so far been found to be inefficient or the individuals behind those attempts may have been sent back home.

okay, okay, fair enough. have people tried a lot of things already? like how long have people been trapped down here, i wonder. i need to rule out what people have already tried, or take what they did and see if it can be done better

I'll have to ask around and get back to you on any escape attempts. But as for how long some of them have been trapped here, the newcomer's guide author mentions that the document had been created nearly a year from the arrival of the first group of abductees into Hadriel.

that long, huh. and they haven't seemed to have gotten very far. meaning we're going to have to be extra crafty or extra motivational in order toget anything done around here

I don't know about your home, but travelling through worlds is just comic book fiction in mine. The gods might be your best bet at figuring out a way to our homes, but they're not going to act against their own self-interest.

[Prussia's casual mention of America gets Danse's attention, but personal curiosity will have to wait.]

So far, I've only heard that Sorrow wants to keep us here. I'm not sure about the rest, but if our emotions are providing them with power then I'm not confident that they'll let us go that easily.

so i guess they want the emotions they're named for then? ok that's easy then

1) find one of them that want us to get out
2) only have that emotion as much as possible to give them more power
3) go home

I'll add that to my list of inquiries. I'm more inclined to suspect that none of the gods would be so benevolent to give away a continuous source of emotion so willingly, but there are worse ways to keep us caged. That they haven't done so might point to at least some measure of thought for our safety and well-being.
