[Some might recognize the cat - the stray cat that seemed to hate Anakin before - behind said Sith. So what if the fuzzy creature is batting a ball between his paws and being downright charming? So what?]

My talents are going to waste. I'm accepting students, but if you don't show any talent with the Force, I will drop you.

[He wants his own army because why the hell not?]

Ben, you're my first student. [No matter what a certain once-Padawan says! Yes, he is that childish.] Don't be late tonight.

[ Curufin chuckles. He likes the humor, whether this man is going to be an enemy or a friend, or just a sort of colleague. He guesses that the joking covers up pain, from all that Anakin has said so far. Besides, that's typical for warriors. ]

See you soon.

[ He keeps working on his current project until he hears footsteps outside the door, then he lays aside his tools. His own sword is already laid on a bench, where Anakin will see it when he walks in. Curufin leans against the only piece of non-forge-related furniture in the room, a table that has a couple of chairs around it, and he folds his arm. The casual posture is meant to indicate lack of desire to attack, in case Anakin is worried about being ambushed.

The forge consists of a couple of rooms in a large shack built of scrounged wood and some structural elements of alien substance (that's Hadriel for ya), with a tin-sheet roof. But it is very solidly built, despite the conglomeration of materials. The front room is the forge itself, with its benches, shelves, and tools hanging on hooks in rows along the walls and over the benches. Towards the back is the smelting oven, the forging furnace, and in the center is an anvil table made of steel. Set up near it are a couple of traditional iron anvils. The other two rooms are for smaller projects such as gem-cutting. ]

Welcome! [ He indicates the sword, inviting Anakin to pick it up and examine it. ]

[ Absolutely! Humor is a restorative for mind, heart, and spirit. And even if it doesn't heal, it mitigates.

Curufin sees the darting eyes, but simply remains where he is, looking utterly relaxed and non-threatening. As much as a Fëanorian ever can, that is. He would appreciate the irony of Anakin and Maedhros, if he knew what Anakin was thinking. ]

Thanks. [ He smiles when Anakin admires the sword and picks it up to try it out. It is Curufin's own work, of course, and it is the sword he carried with him from the time he forged it in Himlad until his death. . and after, apparently. ]

It has never been chipped. I made it out of meteoric iron, and that is amazingly hard stuff. And then, on top of that, I spent ten years hammering it to harden it even further. And of course, it's an Elvish blade. It carries my intentions, and I intend it not to break or chip. But if either were to occur, I'd simply melt it down and re-forge it.

[ He admires the man's sword technique. Obviously very experienced, and very, very talented. ] Nice moves!

That's how Elven anything works! [ Smile. ] Any product of craft is made this way, even small and unimportant items. We invest the object with a little of our spirit, and thus the item responds to our desires in certain ways. It's done deliberately, with forethought, but it's second nature to Elves to do this. So, yes, all Elven blades are made this way and that is how they all work.

[ And surely a lightsaber could be made that way? It would be an interesting project, if Curufin had the tools, materials, and knowledge to craft such a thing. But no matter. He could make a steel sword for Anakin that would be an excellent blade, worthy of the talents of its master. ]

I can well believe that. In your motions, I see years of practice. With your proficiency, there would be no reason you couldn't become as expert with the one had as you were with the missing one. [ As did Maedhros. ] Or even more so. How did you lose your hand?

But it does your discerning eyes credit. [ Smile. ]

[ Curufin would wonder at that description: limited. Even with a sword whose heart is out of Anakin's control, Curufin would be surprised if his new acquaintance was not a superlative swordsman. ]

And from the tone of that word, then, I surmise that you met Count Dooku later on, and turned the tables on him?
