[There's something distinctly different about Fear when he turns the video on this time. He seems even less human than normal, not breathing, not blinking, as if he's forgotten how to manipulate his form so that it actually appears lifelike.

He manages to move his mouth as he speaks, but the motion doesn't quite sync up with the words echoed in through the mic.]

...so I've finally failed.

[His eyes are unfocused, but he looks downward, contemplative.]

I only got half the city out. It won't be enough- we can't start over, not without Hope. So it ends here, I suppose.

[He takes in his first breath since beginning the recording, letting it out in a long sigh.]

I'm sorry.

This isn't your fault.

[He's quiet, maybe... a tiny bit reassuring?]

I need you to calm down. You're with me- and we don't have Hope. This is going to be difficult, and we can't overcome it in hysterics.

[Sorrow...!]

If that's what you need. [She nods and takes a deep breath.

It helps.]

'M not givin' up on you. Not on anyone, all right? I've been through hell before. [A different one, but still.] I'll do it again.

Good.

[Now that that's settled.]

It's likely that we'll all die anyway. But if we are to survive, then we'll want to come out of this with as little damage as possible.

For that, I'll need you.

[Sorrow may or may not know this, but now that she knows that he watched the other gods die, Faith is fully on their side as far as keeping them alive goes. Herself? Well... other phoenixes will be born. It's just fact. But this team of gods is the last of their kind, and it's not fair to leave them to fend for themselves as they scramble to fix this broken city.

Their kingdom, ripped in two.

Another deep breath. She'll stay calm. She can be sad later.]

Tell me what you need me to do.

Nobody will be revived. The monsters in the caves will not be held back. Nobody will have food, they will have limited light.

If Hope returns to us, the last thing he needs to worry himself with is fixing everything that went wrong in his absence. I need you to keep it intact for him.

[He didn't say it would be easy, but this is all they can do.]

Figure out the food shortage. Don't let anyone die. Preserve the city as well as you can.

[If that's what you need, then Faith's your girl, Mr. Sorrow.

In a better time, she'd play it off, laugh and ask that's all? like the threat of annihilation isn't real. Right now, though, she gives a firm nod, conviction hardening her gaze.]

I'll do everything I can, for all our sakes. [She's got fire. She's got superhuman speed and strength. She can heal people. She will do her part. All the power her double unleashed for destruction, Faith will channel towards helping this half of the city survive.] If you need anything else, just tell me so. I refuse to let you all be killed again.

[He knows that Faith is on their side, but he hadn't quite been expecting that kind of promise. It gives Sorrow the slightest amount of pause and he feels a strange sort of gratitude toward her and the others hellbent on getting them out of here- but that's for later. There are things he needs to tend to.]

I assume you realize that nobody dying also includes yourself. That will be all for now.

[Which is sort of Sorrow's roundabout way of saying be careful and stay safe, if he wasn't such a cold asshole to begin with.]

[Whether he knows it or not, that thanks means the world to her. So much is expected of her back home that she wonders if people realize how much of what she does is based on her choices. If she'd been like Rosenberg, she could've used her status to create an autocracy with her at the helm. After all the secrets the gods have kept, Faith could choose to say she'll let them die even if it means she'll die too.

But she doesn't, and Sorrow has acknowledged that, and accepted it.

Faith was already set to take action, but now she'll do so with an extra bit of oomph.]

Course I do. 'm not about to miss out on the city being whole again! [Have a smile, Sorrow. Putting on a brave face is one of her things, even if right now it's a bit strained. The situation is more dire than she's used to, that's all.] Right. Off to work. You know how to find me.

[With a firm nod and a quick wave, she signs off and goes to do her part.]
