[There's something distinctly different about Fear when he turns the video on this time. He seems even less human than normal, not breathing, not blinking, as if he's forgotten how to manipulate his form so that it actually appears lifelike.

He manages to move his mouth as he speaks, but the motion doesn't quite sync up with the words echoed in through the mic.]

...so I've finally failed.

[His eyes are unfocused, but he looks downward, contemplative.]

I only got half the city out. It won't be enough- we can't start over, not without Hope. So it ends here, I suppose.

[He takes in his first breath since beginning the recording, letting it out in a long sigh.]

Perhaps the gods now have sufficient incentive to be more forthcoming.

[She's not terribly impressed, but she's not going to start picking fights over it. She's going to focus on the situation at hand and the threats.]

It's clear they're unable to deal with these threats on their own.

It's not exactly easy when things here have already been stressful enough over the last few months. )

Think they would've learned that first time 'round. ( Okay. No. Trying to be calmer about this. ) Would be good a time as any to know what's going on.

Power can make people overestimate themselves, sometimes. And underestimate those who are weaker than them. I don't think we've been given enough credit.

Assuming everyone survives, perhaps this will change that.

[Not that she truly trusts the gods. What she trusts is that they will look out for their own self-interests first and foremost, and that it's in their personal interests to keep the people whom they feed off of alive.]

( And Kate trusts that they're the closest thing anyone down here has to a good resource. It's easier to accept that part and try to use it for their benefit than keep fighting them for now. )

Guess we'll see.

( There's a pause, a moment where Kate looks off-screen, before she returns to the conversation. It's not that difficult to tell who's got stuck over here, with the less than stable connection and the dimmer lighting, so; )

You need anything, the clinic's open.

( Healing, whatever food they have left. This is what they're here to provide. The extra boost in survival chances. )

We don't trust you. We still don't, but we've run out of options.

( Well, it's not like Hope doesn't know that she doesn't particularly trust them either. Even if she's more inclined to believe them now, that doesn't mean she's about to believe that there won't be a knife in their back in some way or another.

But, more to the point, this reluctance to disclose hits too many nerves; some of the posts caught, talking about the things hunting them down hit even more. A soft, bitter snort of laughter escapes her before she speaks. )

Don't die. It's not fun.

( There's no point talking about the fact that some of this panic could have been averted if the population had been informed beforehand, that things likely could have been different if they'd had the full story. Maybe people wouldn't have been so quick to want to kill the gods, but that's neither here nor there.

It's too late to fix those mistakes. )
