Hey again!!!

Hope just told me that he'll be able to resurrect another god by the end of the month! I guess everyone's been sort of letting you guys pick who we get to bring back, right? That's so great for you guys! I'm glad we're doing it this way, I'd definitely hate to have to be the one to choose between my friends...

Anyway! Your three options this go-round are:

Confusion! Again... poor Confusion. She's pretty cool, actually- I don't know if you guys knew this, but she's the one who made the tunnels all around the city! I think Hope was going to try to get her to make a clinic, but since you guys seem to already have one of those up and running, I think it'd be more helpful to make what you guys have been calling a, um, GPS? She could make it so you guys could find one another, even if you're in the tunnels, and you'd be able to tell when someone is gone from this place. Super cool!

Love would be your next option! Last time Love was up, you guys got the choice of hot springs. I still think that's kind of important? Everybody loves (haha) hot springs! I could see about some nice soaps and things too if you want? Love and I aren't super tight, but there's usually a bit of overlap between love and delight so I'd super appreciate voting that way!

And last and newest is gonna be Sorrow! Sorrow is a good guy, he's the oldest of us and he takes care of us. He's really responsible... so I think he'd definitely like to bring something in that can help you guys out. Maybe a really big garden and orchard, across the river so there's more space. He'd have enough power to make sure it was big enough to feed a lot of people, so Hope wouldn't have to make so much food. Doesn't that sound nice?

[Hope actually sounds angry, as opposed to his usual irritated demeanor.]

I could say you have no right to keep us here against our will and torture us, but that would hardly change anything, would it?

[Maketh narrows her eyes. Any pretense of politeness is long gone.]

At least we have the decency to slaughter our food before eating it.

Hey. I'm pissed about being stuck here, too, but Delight's actually helpful, for being one of the gods. She even kept Fear off my back for a few nights when I asked.

[She pauses, choosing her words, and frowns.]

Give 'em what they want to get what you want. If they wanna play games, you play the game right back.

No. I will not compromise. I will not pretend that they are righteous.

[She'd meant to be reasonable when she first asked Delight her questions. Meant to keep separate, stand back and analyze the information with a clear head. But then the words kept coming, one after another, and now Maketh is shaking, holding onto the phone so tight that her fingers ache. She doesn't understand how it happened so quickly, when she had a good plan in place, but she's angry now - enough that she wants to hit something.

She compromised for years - a lifetime. Bowed her head because she'd believed it would be worth it in the end. All the sacrifice and hidden dead. Except that it wasn't, she was a liar and a murderer just like everyone else, and Lothal suffered for it.

Take measure of your enemy, then find the means to destroy them. At least the Empire made her an efficient soldier. She's good at breaking things. So she'll break the gods next.

Lilith, of all people, should understand that.

Maketh sits up straighter.] They can be cruel. Why can't I?

[Maketh has a point. The gods aren't righteous. But then again, neither is Lilith, nor has she ever been: she's a hunter, a cheat, a killer and a bandit and she makes no pretense of being anything but that. This is what she's always done. This is how she has always functioned-- taking her joyrides and chasing her thrills and getting what she could while she was able, even when whatever jobs or hits she's taken on have dirtied her hands.

It, too, has made her both a liar and a murderer: like Maketh, and like all the others. But she's doesn't care, and is in it for her own loot and her own skin-- nothing more. After the Guardian Angel led her headfirst into disaster, she should know this well: to be the one using somebody else, rather than the one being used.

Or so she tells herself. Lilith doesn't balk at the crisp, sharp edges of Maketh's words: she stares right back into her face. Her gaze is hard.]

You're right. You can be.

[Lilith cuts the feed.]

And do you mourn your dead, the ones you cared for and have lost, or do you simply toss their bodies aside and move on? Do you think of them again and miss them, or do they mean nothing to you? Do you interrogate each other about the depths of your pain?

I will tell your companions that you would rather we all killed you. I have no doubt they will be pleased to hear it.

It's okay- hey, it's fine.

[Quietly, a little panicked.]

We don't want to make anyone angrier, remember?

It isn't fine.

[But he sounds somewhat calmer, visibly reining himself in.]

They care for nothing but themselves. They don't deserve your kindness.

They also didn't deserve to be taken here.

[She reminds him gently, though she's still rather shaken by the whole thing.]

And Fear has been cruel.

[He frowns at the mention of Fear, but he's back to being simply irritated again, instead of genuinely angry.]

I don't see why we are always the ones to blame, when it's been Fear's fault they're here from the beginning. Typical.

[Hmph.]

He doesn't face the blame, so it rolls off of him. Typical, indeed.

But, [she shrugs, trying to change the subject to something a little brighter,] I'll be happy to see one of the others again. Thank you for this.

Well, I know you want to make people angry.

[But it's more teasing than anything.]

Admit it, you giggled at least a little bit.

Making me happy isn't the goal here.

[Okay, she did giggle a little bit.]

Neither is making you happy, but I'm gathering that these humans please you more than any of us. [A pause, and then, thoughtfully-] -they do seem very prone to anger.

They're like my personal little energy stores, bleeding out their anger everywhere. Did Hope tell you that they can't help it, too? They have absolutely no control over what they feel, it's completely at the whim of whatever stimulus they intake at the time.

They do make me rather happy. Especially since they brought you back.

That one did cross a line, though. She's got more anger than she knows what to do with.

I don't torture others with nightmares about the ones they've lost, no. That would be entirely your doing.

Do as you wish. This line is public, after all.

[It's entirely Fear's doing, in fact - but Delight has talked him down, so he doesn't bother to respond.]
