Video; Dream a little dream with me
[It's been a while since Ushahin has posted to the network. He always ends up enjoying the responses he gets, for it gives him a good pulse on what the cave residents are up to. It's time for another one of what Sans once called his "philosophy hour."
He's sitting outside, and for once, is wearing sunglasses, hiding the worst of the damage done to his eye sockets. It appears that he's watching something up in the sky, the moment of his head going round and round.]
I used to wonder sometimes if being brought here was a punishment for all the wrongs I have done in my life. I don't suppose it is so, but sometimes, the idea seems to have merit. Tell me, what is the worst thing you have done in your life? No lying or vague answers for this one or I'll pull it right out of your heads. Just tell me the truth.
[What he's been watching rapidly descends, revealing the dot in the cave ceiling to have been Fetch, his raven friend. He lands on the ground and hops over, giving whoever is watching an extreme close-up of the raven as he pecks at the device. He gives out a guttural Grrrawww! to Ushahin, who seems to be listening to it as if it's actual words.]
I suppose you are right. Fair trade and all that. I won't tell anyone else. You don't live to be my age without learning how to keep a secret. And if you tell me one, if you would like, I'll tell you one of mine.

Instead of giving him a vague answer that explains nothing, Ushahin is straightforward with his friend.]
I'm old. I need something to do in between what the gods here insist on thrusting upon us. [It's a hobby, in other words.]

[He also adds on the real, less noble reason. He tries to be good. Alas, he rarely succeeds.] And the mind does not always tell the truth. People distort their memories, always tinged with emotions, and end up lying to themselves to protect them from what hurts them.

[He pulls his sunglasses down, bad eye flashing.]
And if they lie to me, then they are fools.

[He has been attempting a gentler path, one less filled with wantonly going into heads where he wasn't wanted. But sometimes, he fell back into old habits. A thousand years was a long time to be set in someone's ways.]

[His double had shown him that perhaps his way wasn't the best way after all.]
But if they do not respect me, I will do what I will with them.

[The worst thing, he means. Though he suspects it has something to do with what he's seen before in Shadow's mind, the great contempt he'd held for humanity before deciding to save them.]

Very well then. You know I am here if the troubles weigh too heavily upon your mind

[He'd always do that for Shadow. They shared such a close bond here, something that had been established so soon after Ushahin had arrived, hurting from the loss of everyone he knew.
His broken face lights up with a crooked grin, the unusual angle of his jawline emphasized with the movement.]
Ah, yes. Food. [This was why it was good they lived together. Ushahin was likely to forget to eat if left alone to his own devices for too long.]
