Most of you may not have met me yet, I'm Will Solace, I arrived a few weeks ago. I'm working over at the clinic. I'm a surgeon, although I sincerely hope none of you ever need my help.

[Will really hopes everyone keeps their limbs attached, and their organs on the inside. Already, this place seems a lot calmer than Camp. No one's gotten maimed or anything.]

I wanted to let everyone know that Dr. Lee Rosen passed away earlier. The clinic will still be open of course to anyone who needs help.

[Will keeps glancing around, almost like he expects trouble, habits die hard. Especially those habits ingrained to keep you alive. No monsters yet.]

To that end I'm trying to fulfill his requests. Who is Frisk?

He wanted me to check on you. Make sure you were eating real food. How's your five basic food groups?

You could find something to help out with too. I'm sure there's an abundance of things that people need help with. You just have to find what you want to do.

Well then, this is a good opportunity. It's not the best location, but you have the chance to really think about it. Figure it out and act on it. Don't just live.

I--wouldn't know where to even start.

[Will quick with removing the sutures, and puts another bandage on it to keep it clean.]

Try different things then. See what you enjoy. You could help out here, or the guard. Or the generator. There's a bunch of different projects around, and a shortage of people here.

Here? I don't know the first thing about medicine. And can you honestly see me as a guard?

So? You can learn. I didn't know anything about medicine when I first started.

What are you going to do George? Spend your time here doing nothing? That's going to get boring, real fast.

[shrugs uncomfortably and avoids meeting his eyes.]

I dunno. It's what I've always done before.

Well, time to break it. Think of it as homework.

Find something to do. Anything. Just to figure out if you like it. If you don't, find something else. Take a chance. You might have fun, and meet some new people.

I dunno, I'm not good at people. Or places. Or--or things. Some people are. I just don't--[shrugs awkwardly]--have the knack.

So your solution instead is to, what? Don't talk to people? Live here alone?

That sounds really lonely to me.

And now you seem kind of mortal. Or at least something in between. Like me, something that can change both worlds. Someone here told me that sometimes the old rules don't always apply. I've found that sometimes you need to find a middle road. Figure out which ones don't work here and which ones do.

Yeah, mortal and not necessarily loving it. 'Course I didn't love being dead, either.

And how do I decide which rules to keep and which ones to say "fuck it" to?

I don't know. Mine were more rules of survival. I've been testing, one a time, to see what happens. You just try, and see how you like the results.

Mine were rules of secrecy. Couldn't let anyone know that Grim Reapers were real and among the normal, living population. Couldn't go near my family. Couldn't get involved in the lives of mortals. Couldn't do much of anything aside from show up when I'm supposed to take a soul and get it on its way.

Well, I'm willing to bet that since you can bleed now, you're mortal. So that kind of makes that rule moot, don't you think?

I guess. It's weird to think about being mortal again.

Yeah, I bet. But unless that 'Door' chooses to reopen and suck you back through? You might have to get used to it for a while.

I guess so. I'd gotten used to being dead. Not liking it, but used to it.
