[Don't mind this jerk, he's been keeping to himself for several days, diligently learning as much as he can in private. Including how not to burn down a kitchen. But now, he's got an actual question for which using the network seems the fastest route to an answer.
I heard there was a clinic, here. If I'm going to be stuck here for a while...I might as well make myself useful. I'm a doctor - a surgeon. Who do I talk to about the clinic?
[World's worst beside manner, by the way]
Unrelated, but if anyone has suggestions for meals for someone who can't cook, I...
[his actual request is cut off by a loud thunk just off screen. Law turns to see what it is, and the twist of his head and shoulders tips the video feed just enough to let everyone see what has just appeared in his living room. He sure didn't teleport that there, so...]
...what the hell??

You can find some small fish at the edges of the lake, although you'd have to cook a fair number of them to make a meal worthwhile. There may be more deeper in, but there may be monsters there as well. Someone went swimming in the lake a few weeks ago, and found the bones of some giant creature.
Has anyone pointed you toward the orchard, yet? You'll find fresher fruits and vegetables there than you would in the shops.
Voice
[he sure will go check that out, thanks Fingon]
I prefer seafood, but river fish is better than nothing. Thanks.
Voice
The food available from the stores seems to prioritize longevity. There's a place for that, of course, but it does get dull at times. The orchard is your best bet for novelty and flavor, and what grows there does not seem to be governed by the movement of seasons.
If you've never cooked fish before, consider poaching them rather than baking or grilling. They dry out quickly unless you're careful, and with fish that small even a minute of two could make the difference.

[he will not be touching any Twinkies, thanks]

I think I know more lamb and mutton recipes than fish ones myself, but I have family who love fresh fish. I picked up a few tricks from them.
In peaceful times, healers do seem to get hung up on that sort of thing. I almost wish the ones I'm most acquainted with were, but we haven't had the luxury in some time.
[Of course, they haven't access to significant amounts of sugar in a long time either.]
I'd keep a stockpile of what you find most acceptable on hand, in case of an emergency. Has anyone told you of the time the city split in two a few months ago? There's always the possibility such a thing might occur again.
Voice
Yeah, I read about that. So, survival situations can arise, then. So noted.
I suppose beggars can't be choosers if it becomes a case of starving to death or not, but even when things aren't peaceful, it's important to keep strength and stamina up. Especially when things aren't peaceful.

And one probably only Galadriel of all the Finwean grandchildren could answer, because only royal women learn how to make lembas and Fingon's sister wasn't big on baking. Or eating anything she hadn't personally skinned, really.]
Hope for the best, but don't plan for it.
Would you like to know how to pickle vegetables, as well? I haven't done it for a few hundred years, but I know how.
Voice
Planning for the worst is my specialty. Still. I appreciate the warning.
Voice
It's no trouble. If you need anything else, feel free to let me know.

Fingon Fingolfinion. I'd say a star shines upon the hour of our meeting, but obviously I have no way of knowing for sure.
Voice
Trafalgar Law. I'm used to people knowing me on sight from my wanted posters, but then again, we're not looking at each other anyway.
Voice
Alas, I doubt you'll find many wanted posters here- or if they were issued, too many would have them for us to notice one more.
Are you settling in well, otherwise?
Voice
It is what it is. I've read everything about the situation so I know there's no use complaining or beating my head against a wall to get out. It won't stop me from thinking about it, though.
Voice
Oh, feel free to complain. It's a popular pastime, and we only have so many of those. But yours isn't a bad perspective to take on the place.
Voice
Wasted energy. I'd rather take out my frustrations on someone or something deserving. Haven't decided yet if I want to make it one of the gods.
