That is interesting, and I wonder why that is. Maybe it depends on the caster's belief in the glyph more than the glyph itself?

[Because if the glyphs themselves have magic that words while in a completely different world and when drawn by people also not from Carlisle's world, then it couldn't depend on something environmental, right?]

That is one primary school of thought regarding their application, yes. They say that those with some degree in artistry, be it painting, poetry, or the like, tend to have more success as crafters than those of us who focus solely on the theory and construction. And as it turns out, symbols from other worlds have uses in the art, as well. Emily -- my, er, former student -- was able to use a kind of language from her world to imbue her glyphs with more direction.

It's just usually important to find a balance between asking questions and not annoying the person who might be teaching you.
