(He is deep within one of the adjoining caverns, holding a lamp aloft. It's totally understandable if you have never seen anything quite like it. He is a crafty Elf.)

No one seems to have a thirst for mining ore. Is it an uncommon practice in other worlds?

(He sets down the lamp and lifts up a pick-axe, bringing it against the rock wall in a precise manner. The stone gives away, cracking and revealing something that...shimmers...underneath. He runs his hand over it, curious.)

Some call this a hellish land - and perhaps that is so - but we are within this planet's womb. I should like to see what treasures can be unveiled.

He must have found you confusing then, little Silverfist, with your mind always so interested in everything around you!

I think I made it impossible for him to do anything but adapt. (Does he feel bad about that? No.) He broadened his knowledge alongside me. That made it more interesting.

[handofsilver]

There is no better family for me. (His amusement fades and he is quite serious.) I separated myself from you, but I never felt ashamed.

(He can't meet his gaze, instead toying with a braid.)

My heart was not...steady. He did not simply trick me, Uncle. I was - and am - a married man, but he found ways to come between my wife and I. I cannot forgive myself. Should she - through some miracle - return to me, I must prove myself strong enough to protect her heart and mine.

[ He makes a low sound of grief]
