[For someone that had just arrived not that long ago, when shit was going down, Lydia seems... calm enough as she's merely watching the scorching suns outside from what appears to be some sort of building, though she's made it pretty clear she doesn't want to give away the exact location.

Until she's sighing and hopping down from where she'd been perched, hair tied back in a high ponytail and a grin crossing pastel purple lips to match an outfit that could be clearly called gaudy consisting of that color and deep gold. And shiny enough to blind a person if she didn't seem to carefully understand the angles of that and this contraption.]

Gotta say, my dears, I think I vastly prefer the sun... suns, I guess, being out compared to some dank and dreary conditions you evidently had previously. Not that I'm terribly concerned, I don't require the same... conditions you humans the like do to survive in an environment like this, let's say.

[She's gesturing outside again, grin never faltering the whole way, showmanship forever on display if she can help it.]

I wouldn't worry much about that if I were you, you don't sound like someone anyone here would want to talk about, besides, you cannot go around setting your own rules in an already established game. That'd be plain rude.

[She does not mind at all, given she seems a little curious about his appearance before she actually listens to what he has to say. And is... not liking it, to be perfectly honest.

She's shrugging after a moment, grin only faltering for a brief second as she's just shifting the video around so she can roll onto her back and stretch while looking at the video properly. Or, well, upside down, anyway.]

Is it sad to say that it wouldn't be the first time someone's set some rules and gone against them? At this point I feel fair is fair, but my game has nothing to do with this place other than... survival, darling. See, I'm a particular type of person, but you seem to have some sort of stake in games, care to say more or are you going to be rude in turn and make me have to fight for it?

Hmm... So, is that what you're going to do now? Cheat in return? Sounds cheap to me.

「His smirk doesn't falter, he doesn't seem particularly worried about what she's saying, even more so, a little diverted.」

Fight for it? Hah, not at all, we seem to have the same rules regarding survival. Though, you make it sound like if someone is going to try to kill you already.

If someone is already cheating, then why not alter the rules to make the cheating fair again?

[She's unable to hide her laugh at his next bit of commentary, nails lightly tapping at her side.]

What can I say when I've already met with death on more than once occasion? Though it's yet to... permanently remove me from the playing field, at least. Or, better yet, how does one kill someone that is already dead?

「Oh, that sounds interesting indeed.... He's met several people like him, in a way. It might no longer be as shocking as the first time he heard someone being dead, but it is easy to tell her words seem to make an impression.」

There are ways... Why would anyone want to wipe you out?

I suppose so. I'd never cheat on my end, of course. [There was rarely any reason for her to do so, after all, the majority of people tended to crack wide open after a round or two.

Though she's silent for a brief moment, glancing away from the video with a soft hum before replying once more. Why indeed, isn't that always the question?]

Let's say that people aren't terribly fond of my existence, the way I sustain myself and keep a grip of my sanity. People aren't willing to part with unnecessary objects and parts of themselves in order to obtain what they deem is worth it above all else. [She's silent again, rolling onto her stomach and propping her chin in her hands.]

Have you seen the things people will do to themselves, to one another, in order to gain what they think they truly desire? Whether it fame, money, immortality, those sorts of things? I'd say what I do weeds out the... weaker of those in the world, through their own devices and their own mistakes.

「Oh... Oh that gets him in a personal level, he knows perfectly. Alright, fine, he's definitely interested on her now.」

So, I guess it's safe to assume that the people you're talking about are in fact... here?

Have you? [She actually sounds extremely curious on that matter, given she's talking so candidly and the air of putting on a show seems to have died down from what it had been previously.]

At least one of them, not sure if the other two are here or not. I wouldn't be surprised if it were the case, they are far too much like obnoxious cockroaches for my liking, after all.

Yeah. 「He says, as if it's nothing, even though he doesn't seem too willing to share either. He's been suffering the consequences of that deal for a long time now.」

I don't blame you for wanting to protect yourself... but, I don't think this is the way to do it.

[Oh well, she can try and needle it out of him later if she finds an opportunity, but for now she's remaining silent. He... probably has a point on that matter and she probably acted rashly and made herself look even more suspect than she already had.

Perhaps it wasn't. Though, my dear, what would you do if you knew someone would accuse you of something as ridiculous as attempted murder or torture?

I did say accuse, not that they were correct. They came into my home on their own free will and what happened was their own fate.

Obviously they think they are.

They came into your home, broke your rules and, couldn't deal with the consequences. Am I wrong?

More or less. My home... well, we did offer some sort of prize if those that came could satisfactorily complete the challenges and prove themselves worthy of it.

Nothing I did was ever in direct malice but all part of the game, all part of what was already established, it was hardly my fault if they played poorly and then proceeded to try and cheat the rules. So yes, more or less.

「Ahahaha... sounds stupidly familiar, red flags everywhere.」

What kind of game was it?

Oh there were many facets to it, whatever our hearts desired to create and curate towards those that entered. The whole point of it, though, was how far was one willing to go to show the need for this prize.

What would happen if they lost or if they won?

[Oh, this is where she's having to search for the most proper and vague words as humanly possibly.]

I never claim that everything is safe, that's just the price that comes with being an adventurer in my world. Some have died in there, though that was due to a monster eating them or whatever, nothing I particularly did.

As for the winning... They were able to make a wish of sorts, whatever their little heart most desired. No strings attached.

No really, that is, way too familiar. He's not even sure if he's talking to someone who possesses the ability to summon some sort of Shadow Game or not, the similarities are way too unsubtle.」

What do you get out of hosting games like that?

Amusement. Fun. To give people what they want if they prove they're not a waste of space on this planet. That sort of thing.

[She's having to bite back a small laugh at that, pushing to sit up properly now.]

That's not the reason why. I require... something that's not the same as humans, or mortals, for that matter. To be vague about it, since it's just easier than all the details included, I require particular feelings to keep my sanity and life to continue as it has.

While my games are certainly a good source of that, the reality remains the same that they do help weed out those that would cause true harm to the world I was from.

If that made any sense, honestly.
