[Seel is standing in what remains of Sorrow's grove. Like others, he's not exactly thrilled with the heat, but he's not unused to it either, having spent years in an inhospitable climate not unlike this one.]
A couple of things. First. I've been working with Elrond on trying to create some sort of irrigation system for the grove here. We obviously can't continue to rely on the gods for assistance. We need to make ourselves as self reliant as possible.
[Personally, Seel would prefer not to rely on anyone.]
Sorrow's death means we have to keep this grove alive. It's an additional source of food we can't afford to lose. To that end, if anyone needs a project, I would appreciate the help. This may not be the most hospitable land but it does offer food and we can make do with it if we use our resources well enough.
[Seel fingered the package of cigarettes he was holding in one hand, he was running low, and had been rationing best he could with the Null situation, and now this.]
Second. I'm running out of cigarettes. I quit once before but with significantly more resources than what we currently have available. If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them.
[At the moment, quitting cold turkey was pretty much his only option. It wasn't like nicotine patches grew on trees here.]

Logia? What's that? I'm not familiar with that term. Your ability sounds different from what others of my species can do. We can manipulate energy, create fire, shields, move objects that sort of thing. But removing milk from tea is something completely different.
[And personally, Seel would rather just throw out the tea.]
no subject
It's one of three classifications for Devil Fruit. Elemental powers fall under Logia; something like mine is a Paramecia.
So...you're not human? That may complicate things, but I'll make that judgment when I examine you and determine what I'm up against.
no subject
Interesting. And no, I'm not human, although I used to be.
[Seel really had nothing else to offer about it, since he almost no knowledge about his body and inner workings than what he could see externally.]
My blood is a corrosive poison however. If I get cut, don't get any of it on you.
no subject
Law's eyes flicker with an obvious start. Yes, that's. Important.]
...good to know. Thanks.
[look at him, walking and talking on the phone at the same time. He's learning so much! But he's already at the lab, so maybe it's smarter to turn this off before he smacks into the door.]
See you shortly.
no subject
See you soon.
[Seel walked faster the rest of hte way, hurrying to get there with Law. Arriving there, his eyes lingered on his chest. The goatee was a bit of a turn off, a stark reminder that he was human. His chest was very nice though.]
So, what do you need me to do?
no subject
Law has had only had enough time to grab a flask, so that if he has to drain anything he has somewhere to put it. Caustic fluids, you say? Let's not let any drip on the floor. If he notices the lingering look, it doesn't bother him - most people tend to stare at his tattoos, they are fairly obvious.]
If you don't mind, the first thing I want to do is perform a Scan. That should tell me what I'm up against before I start doing anything more precise.
[though he progresses without waiting for permission, as he do - the "Room" command surrounds them with his aura, a safe bubble wherein he can perform his manipulations, and then he sweeps his fingers as if literally performing an MRI scan with just his eyes. Which, he kind of is. The change that comes over his expression is subtle but he still clearly finds something interesting]
...huh. Yes, I see. You said you were human but aren't now? I can tell. Fascinating...
no subject
Go ahead.
[Seel watched, the reaction was subtle, small, but not unnoticeable.] You can tell? What can you tell?
[What the hell does that mean? He gives him a clearly puzzled look, as Seel has absolutely no idea what what's on his insides besides the obvious vague idea of female anatomy. But since Seel dropped out in fourth or fifth grade, his education is quite lacking.]
no subject
Well, there is one major change...but reproduction tends to be a sensitive subject with a lot of species, so I won't go into that if it's not necessary. The rest of the organs are more compact, efficient. Visually they'd be mistaken for atrophied but I can tell that it's the opposite. [eyes flicking up to meet Seel's for a moment] You must have incredible stamina.
[He leaves the Room up, but finally approaches closer, rubbing idly at his goatee while he thinks aloud]
So long as the physiological changes haven't altered your adrenal glands, this should be more or less the same process as on any human. At most, I have to compensate for a faster metabolism. I think. [he doesn't like showing uncertainty but this a unique situation. Quite the opportunity!] Like I said, I might have to fiddle around. But it wouldn't be invasive, either way.
no subject
Reproduction and aruna, what you call sex, are not taboo subjects for my species. We need it to survive.Being uncomfortable about a natural process is inane.
[Still Seel listens, he had no idea that his organs had changed that much. He wasn't sure how large they were in the first place, but the idea that they had shrunk, well, that explained the extreme pain he went through during inception. He imagined his internal organs shrinking would be painful.
Seel smirked coyly, not above flirting. He was cute. He could ignore the goatee.]
Like to find out?
[But Law continued, and Seel got lost.] I have no idea what adrenal glands are but as long as you don't kill me I'm relatively sure that one of the other Wraeththu here can put me back together if you fuck up.
Or fuck me up, that could be fun too.
no subject
[that much is straightforward, even flippant. Law doesn't have any hangups about the topic itself, only about his own personal needs.]
There are others here? Good. That means if I'm unsuccessful, I can make some comparisons and refine my methods. [that said...] The real question is, do you want to quit, or do you simply want to mitigate withdrawal so you can last until the gods can set you up again without ripping someone's head off?
no subject
Humanity has a lot of issues surrounding things that should not actually be issues. Humans are sensitive. Or maybe it's your culture.
[Clearly Law didn't want to talk about his own sex life, which was really too bad, but Seel had no problems talking about his.]
I know how to give someone a good roon if that's what you mean. If you're talking about how my body actually works? I don't have a clue. Does it really matter though?
Yes, there are two others.
[Seel thought about his question for a little bit, mostly because he actually wasn't sure what the answer was. ]
No, I'd like to quit. If we ever get to go back home again, I can't go back smoking. Quitting's going to be a pain in the ass with Cal around though.....it's his fault I'm smoking to begin with.
[As far as Seel was concerned, Cal was a bad influence on him. He wasn't good for him. And everything was his damn fault.Way to own up to your own mistakes, Seel.]
no subject
For the sake of the issue at hand, no, it doesn't matter in the slightest. But if you or your fellows need someone to handle long-term health, well. I've studied fishmen and Minks, I have more background in comparative medicine than most of the humans lurking around here.
[and then, almost an afterthought:] It's not my culture. I'm a pirate, there's a lot I'm used to that would send most people fainting in shock.
[not that he's defensive or anything! But there's a real medical thing here, he should focus on that]
All right. Then I can probably assist in getting it over with much faster, shorten it from months to a couple of weeks at the most. Without medication, I might add. [time for another eyebrow arch] Is your friend going to be a problem? Being around him, tempted to grab a cigarette...
no subject
I thought mink was a kind of animal. And what kind of medicine?
And good. At least you're not as backward as some humans are.
[Even if he didn't want to sleep with him.]
Cal is always a problem.
[Seel liked to blame everything that went wrong on Cal. Or anyone else other than himself. At the moment, Cal was a great punching bag.]
And yes, he smokes.
And I'm currently fucking him.
no subject
It means, I've studied other demi-human species. A lot of people around here come from worlds where there aren't any. Mine has at least seven or eight in addition to humans. [but you try giving a prostate exam to a giant] So maybe if you...what did you call it, Wraith-thu? Have other issues and want someone to be your dedicated physician, I'd be a better choice. And it's not just because I'm curious.
[easy there, down boy. Maybe another time]
Well, if you need him for sex, that's one thing. But the temptation to smoke isn't something a doctor can fix, that's on you guys to sort out. I can get you off it, but starting up again will just set us back to zero.
no subject
[Seel sounded it out for him.]Ray-thoo. Close. Alright. You seem mildly more competent than my other physician. And I don't mind a little curiosity. It would be certainly hard for you to help if you didn't understand something. Just don't screw it up.
[There would be no where for you to hide if you ever gave him advice he didn't agree with though.]
Great. Hopefully I won't be seeing you too often and going back to square one again. I almost hope the gods are out of commission for a long time and Cal can't get his cigarettes back.
[Wow. Giving a giant a prostate exam. That was a wonderful mental image right there. As for going after Law, well, Seel had time. He could wait.]
no subject
It's a deal, then. Honestly, the gods have no idea what they've done. At least we can make our own alcohol...
[anyway. Rant later, work now. For that, he needs a fresh Room.]
How long ago was your last cigarette?
no subject
No, they don't. Why should they. We're just food to them.
[Seel sighed, feeling around in his pocket for his box of cigarettes and then withdrew his hand.]
no subject
Too soon, there's no need to remove anything from your system. What I can do, and should be more effective...well. It involves getting a little more invasive. But with my ability, there is no blood nor pain. It will be quick, it might just feel weird for a few moments.
[he needs the go-ahead before sticking his fingers into anyone's brain, really. But he does go and find whatever water is stored in the lab to wash his hands, first.]
no subject
Invasive? What the hell does that mean?
no subject
I'm going to stick my hand inside your head. Without using a scalpel.
no subject
And do what? Where I come from, that's normally deadly. I'm not into death.
no subject
[that seems a good cue to call up the Room, surrounding them both in the safe bubble - it's obviously some kind of power.]
Unless you don't trust me. If that's the case, feel free to go through withdrawal on your own. I hear it's not that bad compared to alcohol, but I've never smoked.
no subject
Fabulous.
[Seel hadn't enjoyed going through withdrawal when he quit the first time. It sucked but he was honestly too afraid of what would happen if he didn't succeed. Now? He really didn't have that motivation. Except not having cigarettes. He dug into his pocket and brought out his pack.]
I suppose I should give this to you then?
no subject
[Hands clean, he comes back and steps up very close, finally reaching to touch his patient. One hand carefully along Seel's jaw, the other poised to do the poking.]
Stay as still as you can. You'll feel the movement, it may be unpleasant but it won't hurt. Just don't jerk your head away or I'll miss and have to try again.
[it's much more difficult to operate on the cellular level, but he's reattached nerves and muscle fibers before, stimulating brain cells is about the same. It's delicate work either way, and he needs complete focus. Law closes his eyes in order to use his haki to differentiate one tissue from the next and then slides his fingertips in as if Seel's skull were made of water, yielding out of his way.]
no subject
And he did his best to stay still. Because that was one thing Seel really wanted to do, when someone poked around in your brain, staying still was probably a good order to follow. Just in case he wasn't telling him everything.
Not that he didn't trust you. Okay, he didn't entirely trust you. Because if it was reversed? Seel wouldn't have told you everything either.
He closed his eyes, mind easily fluttering into a slight meditative state. And it was easier not to flinch if you weren't looking.
