Just how many here have military experience? After the shambolic events prior, I do wonder if it's merely lack of experience than anything else.

The fact a lot are treating this as a "one-off" is going to be a problem. Do you really believe that everyone will just move past this as if it never happened? It should remind you of what you are; prisoners.

[Lance has some familiarity with Hux, or at least the Hux that was here previously, so he's neither too thrilled to see he's back--whether or not he remembers, which he presumes he doesn't by the questions--or quick to reply to this post. He considers not doing so at all, actually, but it seems worthwhile. Talking to Hux was how he'd found out half the stuff he'd found out about the whole thing with Maketh, after all.]

There are several with military experience, but the population here is not an army and trying to treat it like one is not effective.

What gives you the impression that those here presume that recent issues are going to be a one time occurrence?

Of course there are, that's the law of averages for you. However it doesn't seem to be working so well right now. I'm not saying everyone should be treated as military; those inexperienced will do more harm than good in that aspect. What needs to be looked at is the protocol for what everyone should do when this happens again.

I probably don't have to say much about myself. But despite what I gather are out differences, I think I have to agree with you. We should be prepared in the event something like this happens again. We can't dismiss it after what just happened.

I doubt it will be easy, though...there are so many different opinions and personalities and backgrounds. And I don't believe that anything like the Empire did would go over very well.

I have some, and I can see what you mean, although with this not being an army before, nothing will be easy with them. I've got experience with trying to get a group of ragtag survivors organized, and it was definitely a fight. My husband and I managed, but we had the war going on all around us constantly, and there was no choice. I don't think we have much of one here, but I'm not sure everyone will want to become an army.

I believe that it will come down to experience in the end, regardless of who says what. It will only take an attack or three for people to consider their options more sternly.

[ Curufin, too, has considered a while before answering. For one thing, this Hux doesn't sound quite like the other one. There is a subtle difference. For another thing, he seems not to know recent Hadriel history. But Curufin has a reason to speak. ]

I have military experience, but it sounds as though you are suggesting some kind of large-scale organization. I can tell you that most people here won't agree to that. We don't take kindly to attempts to regiment us.

Besides, our problems are bigger than just having to worry about the Null coming here again. We defeated them this time, but they learn from experience and probably will take a different tack next time. In my opinion, instead of waiting for them to come back, we should go to them. They surely won't be expecting that, since the gods here have never done anything before but run away from their enemies.

We'd have to have one hell of a good plan, though, in order to pull that off.

I've been hearing about how won't agree, which is strange. I would have thought most would want to survive another attack like the last. If the enemy learns as quickly as some suggest, then the next attack will be a completely different thing. Everyone needs to be on the same page on where they should be or what stance they should be taking. There's no excuse to be disorganized when the one thing a lot here have is time.

Army or no, the basics need to be there. If everyone is away doing their own thing then it will only get the rest of you killed.
