Hey, everyone. My name's Alvin Draper and I'm pretty new here, so I apologize if this is a question that's been asked before, but it seemed ... relevant, given some of the more recent discussions here.

[I.e., that whole "should we kill Delight" poll, which Tim is still actively side-eyeing the hell out of everyone here over. Except Lance. Lance is the only sane person here and has the correct opinion on murder.]

I'm just curious - [because he wants to know exactly what kinds of psychos he's landed with] - under what circumstances do you believe it's acceptable to kill someone, and why do you believe that?

[ This is a personal one. A subject Marko and Alana had discussed several times, since long before Hazel was even born.

Something that gives her a pang in her heart, thinking about her husband.

She finds herself answering anyway, quiet, serious. ]

[ And, sometimes, you do.

Sometimes, you wish you had to, you wish you didn't have any ways out of it.

Sometimes, you want to make people pay for the things they've done, to you, to your family, your loved ones.

Sometimes, trying to hold a moral high ground sucks. And, sometimes, you wish you didn't have to be the bigger person. ]

[It's a more encouraging answer than he was expecting to hear from people here. However ... ]

How do you determine when it's necessary? By what parameters?

[The Colony thought it was necessary to eliminate hundreds of suspected sleeper agents for the League of Shadows - suspected in error, and if Tim hadn't reprogrammed their entire drone army to target himself instead, those hundreds of innocent civilians would've been killed, needlessly.]

[ She pauses again, going through several conversations in her mind. Several scenes from her life, their lives.

Marko's face the times he found himself forced to kill to save them. ]

When you're protecting your own.

And you have no choice.

There's always a choice. It may not be a good one ... but it's there.

It's not a choice, not really.

[ She's sure they're both on the save wavelength here, just differing words.

She knows there's always a choice. But there's one you never go with. There's people you never want to lose, and your mind and your body will act of their own volition to prevent that from happening.]

People are defined by the choices they make, or don't make.

Guess that's true.

[ Yeah...yeah, they are. So much she can agree without much arguing. ]

But is it that much of a choice when one side has objectively worse consequences? And you don't have time to think?

I'm not saying that choices are always easy to make, or that the consequences of choosing one option over the other are always going to be much better than the other. But the choices you make, especially under pressure, speak volumes about the kind of person you are.

We're going around in circles.

[ Even if her tone is tired, she seems to say it with a smirk. Both of their points are correct, connected even, when you look at them from a certain angle. At least that's what she thinks. ]

Why the question?
