[A pale and skinny boy who might be familiar to some appears on the screen, giving a casual wave and perky smile.]

So, there are a lot of monsters about the place, right? Not very safe if you're not a fighter. Which I guess means I should try to change that. So, I was just wondering, if anyone has the time, if they're able to teach a guy like me a little self-defence.

I'll warn you that I'm not a very competent person. Well.....actually, I'm not competent at all! However, I promise I'll do whatever I can to pay you back.

Aikido, huh? I've read about that a little. You think I might be able to do that?

Yeah, dude. Totally. Aikido's one of the easier martial arts to learn!

Well, I'll certainly give it a go. I can't promise I'll be a very good student but I might be able to be almost acceptable!

Aw, dude, don't knock yourself. I'm sure you'll be fine! I mean, we all gotta' start somewhere, y'know?

Besides, you got an awesome teacher like me so. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

That I'm a completely worthless bum who isn't going to amount to much in life, of course. [And he's talking and smiling so cheerily as he's saying it.]

[ Isn't that a kicker? Who does that remind her of? Hint, it's her. She was never quite so blatant about it, but- The amount of times she'd thought that very thing with a smile slapped on her face is what made it especially painful. ]

What makes you say that, dude? You seem alright to me so far.

Well, why would I be worthy? The only good thing about me is my talent and it's actually an extremely boring one.

What's your talent? It might be more interesting than you think.

I mean, I'm a musician. It's not very practical, but- It still is something to be proud of.

You're a musician? [And his eyes light up.] On the contrary, I'd say that's very practical! Think of the smiles you could bring to people with your music! In fact, I knew someone with that talent back home. [Ibuki's current taste in music was terrible but she wasn't the Ultimate Musician for nothing.] One of her singles sold millions so she made lots of people happy, right?
Besides, Hope's Peak Academy wouldn't have scouted her if they didn't think her talent wasn't worth anything.

[Yeah he hasn't answered your question, Rosalina.]

That's what I try to do, yeah. But it isn't... I'm not that good. Like, I've never sold any of my music or anything.

That's besides the point though. Like, sure, music is a skill but- Everyone's got skills. Or stuff that they're good at that they might not think is super useful or whatever, but. It still counts.

....Oh.

[Maybe that's not her special talent. Or maybe it hasn't been uncovered to the world yet. Like an undiscovered genius.]

You're right. They might have. On the other hand, there are skills out there that they might think aren't much good and are completely right about it. [Well, he'd say that his luck is the only good thing about him but it's not an interesting skill.]

[ Her special talent is ruining everything she touches. Or so she believes. Probably best to not... count that. ]

Oh, yeah? Like what? We might have to agree to disagree, I don't think any of them are useless or 'not much good.'

Maybe we have to. But what if it's a talent is going to make no difference, no matter what? What if it's one that will not improve because it's not possible to hone it? I wouldn't call that a useful talent. Not one with obstacles that you can overcome with hard work. Isn't that pretty boring?

Everything can make a difference. And I mean, some people might start out better than others but all talents take work.

Well, that and dumb luck sometimes to be successful.

It's true that talents take work. Well, most of them, anyway. However, what if this 'dumb luck' actually happens to be a talent in itself?

[There's nothing interesting about. You can't improve something like that. Not in his case, anyway.]

I don't know? I've never heard of luck being a talent. I mean, like, luck is just kind of... random. Isn't it?

It's certainly not a real talent, for the reasons you've said. However, there are people who count it as one. [Which was why he was accepted into Hope's Peak Academy in the first place.] I don't really get why though.

It does give an advantage, I guess? And you can learn to use that advantage!

Well, you're not wrong there. [He DOES rely on his luck a lot of the time when he's planning something - and a good number of times it does work. He won't deny that.] It's still pretty boring, though. Nothing, compared to someone tries hard to improve his or her talent to overcome bigger challenges and struggles!

I don't know. 'Boring' is subjective, really- I'd like for my luck to be a little better so don't take what you have for granted, dude.

.......Subjective? [Okay, he's a little confused by that. Maybe it's because she doesn't quite understand how his luck works.]

I mean, good luck is marvellous! However, something of equal value might have to happen at the opposite end of the scale. Are you sure you want that?

What's boring to you might not be boring to another person is all I mean. Some people might think being lucky is a 'boring' trait to have, but- Others might not!

And, sure. I'd be willing to take the risk.

[She doesn't think that sort of thing is boring? Wow. She's a weird one!

And having luck as a talent also comes with its own problems. Komaeda thinks it might be bad luck if he talks to her about his own experiences. But he might be able to explain his talent in another way.]

Take a risk, huh? That's an odd way to put it. You'd certainly get bad and good luck of equal value! I mean, you'd get the worst luck of ending up in a train crash where you're the only survivor. That's pretty bad, right?

However, after you get out hospital, you find out that you've won seven billion dollars! Wouldn't that just be amazing luck? It would certainly make up for the accident you had earlier, wouldn't it?
