Hello, everyone! I wanted to let you know that the Sewing Shop is open for business. Please stop by if you need your garments mended or if you need something new that you can't find in the shops. I know how hard it is to find things that fit properly there.

I'm also available to give sewing lessons should you wish to learn! It's a very useful skill to have, especially here where anything can happen.

Movies are apparently plays which are recorded on one device and played on another. I'd assume that a movie star is someone who acts in the plays?

[bythewaves]

Ah... yes, I suppose that would make sense. [ He says consideringly ] In which case, it would make sense - for plays one needs many costumes, after all.

[roseofthetyrells]

Yes, and each one has to be more impressive than the last one. The only problem I can see is that apparently many theatre people have big egos.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor laughs ] I think that is true for everyone in such businesses!

[roseofthetyrells]

I would imagine so! When I was a little girl and the pressures of my lessons got to be too much for me, sometimes I'd fantasize about running away with a troupe of actors.

[bythewaves]

[ He grins ]

Take it from someone who did that for a year - although mind, I did not actually run away as such! - it really isn't anywhere near as fun as it sounds. One starts to miss a soft bed and warm baths rather swiftly!

[roseofthetyrells]

[she laughs]

Is that so? Then, I suppose I'll have to content myself with years of featherbeds and rosewater-scented baths.

[bythewaves]

I was a very spoilt prince at the time. [ maglor shrugs wryly ]

To suddenly have to sleep under the stars with naught for your bed but a cloak and to eat only what you can carry or catch was something of a surprise! Probably why my parents encouraged it, in honesty. And to be fair, by the end of the year, I was much more accustomed to it, and could even say honestly that I enjoyed it.

[roseofthetyrells]

And I was a very spoiled and pampered young noblewoman.

Did I hear you correctly? Your parents encouraged you to go? I can't imagine my parents encouraging me in such an endeavor. They didn't even like it when I went horseback riding alone on Tyrell lands.

[bythewaves]

They did - father and mother were both very independent young things. They first met, in fact, on the open road, when he was her father's apprentice. And they loved to ramble, even after.

[roseofthetyrells]

[she sighs]

That sounds so romantic. Meeting on the road instead of on one's wedding day, travelling and seeing the world, not being expected to spend one's life staring at the same place and the same people.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor laughs ]

It really wasn't. According to them, it was raining, he was lost and arrogant and abrasive, and she pushed him into a mud puddle.

[roseofthetyrells]

[she pauses, then releases a peal of delighted laughter]

So not at all the subject of love songs and poetry!

[bythewaves]

Not at all. [ He agrees with a laugh ]

Their love for each other was very great, but they were both very stubborn, wilful personalities with fearsome tempers. Their arguments would shake the rafters, at times! Their courtship, to hear tell, was one of sparks and storms, equally. I think everyone was very happy when they were wed - even though they were terribly young to do so.

[roseofthetyrells]

I wish I could meet them. They both sound as though they'd have many tales to tell of one another, all of them entertaining. But what is young by Elven standards?

[bythewaves]

Mother would have loved you. [ Maglor smiles wistfully ] Father... is harder to predict. I think he would have appreciated your spirit, though.

As to that - they were still under their majority - not quite a hundred yet! But they did not wish to wait any longer.

[roseofthetyrells]

[she smiles wistfully as well] I'm sure I would have loved them, too. After all, they're your parents.

It still amazes me how long your lifespans are! I can't imagine all that you get to see within the course of a lifetime. After all, I'll be lucky to make it to eighty and that sounds ancient.

[bythewaves]

Well. [ Maglor says dryly ]

I have it on good opinion that although it was very hard to hate Nerdanel, Feanor was another matter entirely. My father was always divisive.

[ He smiles wistfully at her ]

No more than it amazes us that yours are so short! Men blaze like a falling star, your lives like a blink in the scheme of time, and yet you do blaze, leaving impacts far beyond yourselves, and accomplishing things unguessed at.

[roseofthetyrells]

[she smiles wryly]

Sounds like my grandmother. One either loved or hated Olenna Tyrell. There was no one lukewarm on the subject.

[she smiles shyly back]

I would want it to be said that I blazed. I would leave behind an impact on those who knew me.

[bythewaves]

Fëanáro Curufinwë was the Crown Prince of our people, a genius unmatched then, or now. He was a fire that drew all to him, but he wasn't always - or even often! - particularly nice. [ His son says in memory ]

He was easy to love, but hard to like. He was charismatic and passionate and driven - where he loved, he loved with all of himself, but his hate was equally all consuming, and it killed him, in the end.

[ It killed us all, he doesn't say ]

We were his sons, the jewels in his crown, but when his father died, we became his weapons to throw against his enemy.

[ He squeezes her hand ]

[Atem's words warning Margaery about being consumed by her hatred for Cersei come to mind and she bites her lower lip before replying]

Hatred--can be difficult to overcome, it's true. It can consume all in its path if one isn't careful.

I know something about being a weapon wielded by her family. My beauty, my grace, and my charm were all honed for one purpose and one purpose alone. To be queen, no matter what--or who--stood in my way.

[she squeezes back]

[ He says softly ]

Now? So am I. Back in King's Landing, I couldn't let go of my ambitions so easily.

[bythewaves]

You were younger then. [ he murmurs ]

Death changes a person, I suppose.

[roseofthetyrells]

Younger and far more ambitious. [she says ruefully]

It does. I feel as though I have far more. . . perspective on things than I did before I died.
