Staten Island Ferry, Elvish Style! [Video/Action ]

[ Curufin and Margaery Tyrell set sail from the bay of North Island, the same day as he puts the finishing touches on the boat. It is clinker-built (also called lapstrake), which makes the hull flexible, good for sailing turbulent waters. It has a single square-sail (sewn by Margaery), though it also has rowlocks and oars, in the unlikely event of the winds dying. It looks something like this.

It can be crewed by two people, but more would be nice! Give Margaery and Curufin a holler if you want them to come pick you up! Either because you want to come along for the ride and learn something about sailing, or because you need to be ferried to a different island than the one you're on. They'll take you wherever you want to go. Also, call if you want something picked up and delivered to you, or if you just want the sailors to come and visit you. ]

Hello, Hadriel! The ferry's in service.

[ OOC: Either or both Margaery or Curufin will answer! But you can also request one or the other. ]

The pleasure is mine, your grace.

[He gives a quick little bow, clearly accustomed to the usual protocol of addressing royalty.]

You still contributed to it in some way, that surely counts for something. Have you had a chance to do much exploring yet? I'm curious to know what we're dealing with here.

[she curtseys in return, appreciating his manners]

Not as of yet. We've mostly been focusing on getting people home who were stranded on other islands. But I'm sure the opportunity for exploring will come!

I'm sure it will as well. It'll be good to know the full range of what we're dealing with here, how much land there is in total... But despite being so displaced, all of our homes arrived intact, at least? From what you've seen?

[It's a bit inconvenient to be split like this with water surrounding them, but as long as there's a sky above, Kain will take it gladly.]

It seems as though all of the spires and houses arrived in one piece. Scattered amongst the islands, of course, but here.

That's a relief to know. At least those gods are capable when it comes to transporting us... as frustrating as they usually are. [He glances off toward the sea for a moment.] We'll probably need plenty more boats where this came from, to bring us between these islands.

Yes, that seems to be one of their few skills. I do wish they'd found an island large enough for the entire city. [she follows his gaze] Indeed. Unfortunately, there are only so many trees to fell for timber.

Then we'll have to be careful how many of those trees we use. Still, even with a small supply of boats, we'll be better off than where we started. And it's not a cave, at least… as inconvenient of a situation as it is.

[He's not sure what he'd do if they ended up back in the cave again.]

Yes, for it takes a tree a long while to grow. You disliked the caves, I take it?

More than disliked. Caves are fine as long as you're only using them for a temporary shelter, or perhaps exploring them for a time... I don't want to live in them, though. We went far too long without seeing the sky...
