[The whole Fear event was massively tiring for Komaeda. Both physically and mentally. He decides to shut himself house for a few days, trying to recover his health. Nobody needs to know. They've got other things to worry about more than him. Besides, if they discover how truly worried he was, it could end very badly.
Even so, he has to check on the people who called him their friend and make sure they are okay. That they are not dead or they have not actually left the city for good.]
Well, that was certainly an eventful few days. Or shall I say uneventful, depending on your opinion? Either way, it's wonderful that everyone is back! Or most of us anyway. [At least he hopes that the people who called him his friends are back.] It was certainly a massively trying ordeal. However, perhaps we can look at this in a positive light? Even if it wasn't intentional on Fear's part, one might say it was a test to see how we could work together and merge our hopes together into one and let it shine over the darkness of despair!
And in the end, our efforts did pay off. Hope did come after all! The city is back to normal. What a wonderful relief!
Filtered individually to Hinata, Drake, Yusuke, and Akira.
At least that's what I think. What about you? If you're still around, that is. [TL;DR - he's worried you're not.]

You can't abandon people because they're scared. We're all in the same boat here.

Who said anything about abandoning those who are scared? Who wouldn't be scared of a situation like that? But do they confront that fear or do they just lie down and let it take over them? They wouldn't be symbols of hope if they did the latter, would they? That's why they're a lost cause.

However, people don't work like that. If they fell so easily to despair, their hopes were never that strong in the first place. They are just going to be thrown into despair by whatever terrible thing is thrown at them. Isn't it better for those people to be stepping stones to help those with greater hope?
I mean, for me it would be such a privilege if I give my own life for someone who is actually worthy!

But a talented person - they have the potential to harness theirs and let their hopes shine! True, they may despair at times. But if they are truly worthy, they will face that despair head on and rise above it! If they don't......maybe they were probably on the same level as the talentless. Trash, in other words.
However, trash can still aid the worthy in some ways. Let's say a monster was blocking the way to a spring which could give water to a village suffering from severe drought. Couldn't a worthless person help out by using themselves as bait to distract so their companions, the symbols of hope could catch the monster off-guard and kill it easily? For me, that would be a privilege because even someone as worthless as me could finally be useful! Nothing would be more glorious!

And even after several months, he is still trying to wrap his head around people doing this. So he canot help but ask.]
What makes you think that?

A useful death is still a death. That's a problem.

[Because he's still getting around his head that the people he has made friends with here would be upset about him dying.]
