[Poison spends a long while fidgeting with her phone, walking the borders of Carlisle's garden (but not going inside, not while he isn't there). Eventually, she sits down near one of the corners, cross-legged on a low, flat rock, and taps out a simple yet heavily weighted message.]

Do you believe in Fate?

I used to. Being here changed my mind about fate.

Do you?

Fate? That's....not an easy topic.

I dunno. Is that a fair answer?

Not anymore. I'm not sure I even believe in gods.

But how are we here? There are no easy answers.

No.

I believe that the choices we make are the path that paves our way.
I can't shift the blame to 'fate' when I make a mess of everything.
It was ~meant to be~ because ~fate designed it so~ and it'll all ~work out in the end.~

Nah, that's not for me.
Have some accountability.

I think that depends on how one defines 'fate'. I think certain actions make some outcomes inevitable. But those actions are still yours.

What made you think fate was guiding you?

[personal profile] puzzlingly 2018-10-06 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
i believe that there is a path written for every one of us
but there is not only one
you can choose yours

not so long ago a friend showed me that people can change their destiny by just wanting to

Every.
Last.
Bit of it.
You make your choices, you live your life, and then you die.

Even so. Amongst my folk we say that the One draws straight with crooked lines, which is to say, some things are meant to be, if you like - but the way you get there is all your own, and that you made it there at all is "fate", perhaps. You could argue that only you could ever have been the person that you became.

thats true
what is it that you want?
toiletseat_girl: (measure out your life to the tick of a)

I have first hand personal experience with it.
Especially the death part.
bythewaves: (hm?)

Am I? That seems surprising! But I suppose it might be because I am old enough to have seen much, these days.
