[Rey wants her money back.

[Also she sounds like hell, and the only reason she isn't resorting to text is because she can't keep her hands still long enough to manage the letters. Her voice, similarly, is strained and shaky, but that's why she isn't using the video function. Her face looks much worse.]

"Secondly, it appears that the dam is active. We now have hydroelectricity to help power the city. That's one less thing for Hope to bitch about, so don't break it.

"It's still going to need upkeep from time to time, though. Going to handle that personally, but am going to need some help with that right now." [Pause.] "Please."

It's true, whether or not it is a Chinese proverb. [ she's seen crouching tiger hidden dragon. that is her extent of knowledge on China. that, and what she learned in 9th grade world history class. ]

Whatever. [Huff.] Have made some pretty fucked up choices in this current life, in that case.

[At least she acknowledges this fact now, rather than trying to rationalize her recent mistakes.]

That's okay. We all fuck up sometimes. [ mistakes happen, milk spills, and life goes on. ] When we recognize that, we become better.

This was more of a... [How to put this?] ..."someone was killed" sort of fuck-up.

Actually, killed a lot of someones. If you could consider them people.

[But synthetics aren't people, right? ...Oh.]

So? I've killed a lot of someones, too. [ Most of them deserved. Maybe all of them did. ] I'm different now. Aren't you?

One of those someones might've been someone important to... someone else.

[Well, technically, a lot of the people Rey has killed was important to someone else. But this one is someone she actually knows, and that just breeds all kinds of awkward.]

Does that bother you? Do you feel guilty about it?

Am not necessarily proud of those things.

[Which is basically Rey's way of saying yes without admitting the guilt.]

So, yeah, you're not a fan of all the bad shit you've done. [ she gets the non-admittance. ] Congratulations, you're now a changed lady.

Don't think it's that easy.

There's nothing easy about it at all, but once it's done, it's done.

Sure. And it would also seem that no amount of feeling sorry about it will undo it, if recent experience has been any indication.

[The state of her face is proof of that.]

Oh, did someone decide to get revenge?

Yes, and she had every right to that revenge. For some reason, though -- she changed her mind.

Revenge doesn't fix things for people, and maybe she recognized that. Or maybe she saw something different in you.

Funny. She did say something along those lines.

[It does sound like something a therapist would say. Or from what little Rey knows about them -- always asking about Feelings and shit.]

How'd you guess? [ there would be an eye roll here except it's voice. ]

You just don't seem to see what others see in you.

It's hard to trust people's judgment when they can't see you for what you really are.

[Pause.]

But... she did. [Another pause.] Does. [Hmmm...] So, suppose it meant something, for a time.

It should still mean something now.
