[the video opens on Laura sitting on the edge of her bed, legs crossed at the knee. she's dressed and madeup in full eighties regalia, but her expression is more on the serious side than playful.

she's seen multiple posts about Caedra and has learned from their mistakes. so she's playing as nicely as she can]

Look, I get why people are so worried about Caedra going on a rampage and trying to kill a lot of people. It makes sense to be scared about that. But what if I had a way to keep her from being able to kill people in the first place?

[she holds up her right hand, a ring on her ring finger]

This ring keeps Caedra from being able to kill me. So I'm willing to let someone who knows about magic to study it and try to duplicate its magic so that other jewelry and trinkets can be enchanted with the same magic and passed out to everyone. That way, she wouldn't be able to kill anyone, even if she does decide to play nicely this time and not attack everyone.

I'm willing to turn the ring over to anyone who thinks they can figure out a way to use it to keep others safe. All I ask is that I get the ring back before she defrosts.

The fact that I never let her get within arm's reach of me. I trust her about as far as I could throw one of these islands.

So the ring only works if you can stay away from her?

Nope. When I first met her, I was standing close, close enough to be stabbed. Which she tried to do with that stupid sword of hers. But something kept her from being able to pull it off and I'm guessing that it's the ring.

She almost killed me once too. She let me run away. I think scaring me amused her. If you do find someone who can make more rings, I'd like one.

Yeah, she really is. I don't get why so many people here don't give a fuck about it.

Maybe they're scared and don't want to show it. Or maybe they're hoping to become friends with her, hoping she'll protect them. Some people are attracted to killers. It makes them feel powerful to be around violent people.

Yeah, your average demon? The only ones they give a shit about is themselves. So they're not really getting protection, more like a temporary pass on murder.

[She stays quiet for a moment. It reminds her of her dad and what she did for a temporary pass on murder.]

Yeah. It's hard to explain but some people would want it.

[she died rather than let herself be possessed by a demon, so that line of thinking is foreign to her]

A temporary pass could be seen as better than nothing. It's like if you're jumping out of a burning building, you may as well flap your arms and try to fly. Do all you can to have more time.

[Laura has a hard time relating to that]

Yeah, but the time's got a price tag attached to it.

I talked to him about it afterwards. He said it was supposed to give you a clean slate. I'm guessing it didn't quite work out that way, did it?

Kinda not surprised. The whole "get out of pain and guilt free by killing you" thing sounded really fishy.

It made sense to me at the time. A life for a life. And the chance for a new start sounded really good.

But that's not what you got, was it?

I like to think I did, that my sin's gone. I'm don't know. I don't feel any different and that sucks.
