[Hey, it's one of the resident robots who happens to also be a walking crime lab, here with a very short announcement.]

Although I advise boiling it to avoid any potential biological contaminants, the lake water is drinkable in regards to any metal or chemical toxicity.

It won't kill you. At least not unless it has some sort of pathogen that can't be destroyed by boiling.

[Which is... Possible, he just doesn't think so. Not that his analysis system is set up for alien microbes or anything.]

The low risk of illness or poisoning is still vastly preferable to death by dehydration, isn't it?

[He knows what he'd choose if he were human; dehydration sounds like a bad way to go.]

Since no one's going to force you drink lake water, you have free choice of your manner of potential death.

[But that doesn't mean he likes you either!!! Although he kind of does, she's not totally wrong.]

But I'm not going to chase you around with boiled water if you're choosing not to drink it. You're on your own.

Any thoughts about anything else here being unusually deadly or poisonous?

I can accept that.

I presume most of the animals are edible, although it's possible they aren't. I haven't tried any of the vegetation.

[Since testing that is a lot trickier and he's not totally sure he can do it; he certainly wasn't built for it. The animals are totally out as far as the meat goes, though he could at least check their blood for heavy metals or toxins.]

There was someone stockpiling food before the move, though. You may want to speak with him, if you're not interested in taking risks.

I have some stuff stashed away. I just wonder what happens if things don't go as we'd planned here.

[And he needs serious practice. But to be fair, he's kind of made to do the opposite of reassuring people.]
