Hey. This is Yvry, not that that means shit to most of you. Anyway, a while back me and Deputy Pratt had this idea for an audio guide. More topics than just the newbie guide, but in short bursts.
Basically, something that'll keep you from having to read the entire network history, and isn't long and boring.
Anyway, here's that guide. It's mostly for new people, but I don't care who downloads it. If you've got any ideas for new topics, corrections, whatever else, I'm all ears.
Oh, and can we get one of you flying-types to go up and take a picture of the city from above? We need an accurate map, and go fuckin' figure, there's no satellites around here. Thanks.
[Attached is a set of files, neatly compiled and ready for listening.]

[Listen, he never went to school.]

Now. Start with basic sentence structure.

[He glances around dubiously. He's not sure you can use this dinky little lab for anything to do with molecules. Do they even have a microscope? Much less whatever you use to see smaller shit.]
Anyway, sentence structure. Most of the time it's gonna be the same as English. Like if you want to say you hate carrots, that's exactly how you'd say it. I hate carrots. I don't actually, but you get me. Only if you want to say you only hate, fuck I don't know, small carrots, you'd put the "small" after the "carrots". That's most sentences.

But all right . . . subject, verb, object, adjective.
[Easy enough to remember. It only takes a quarter-hour more-- mostly filled with Rosalind asking after the actual words themselves, scrawled into a notebook-- before she feels more prepared to hazard her first sentence.]
This is better. Yes? What do you know-- not science, so what?

[He is impressed with the speed at which she's picking this up, but she basically told him as much, so there's that.]
Well, I know languages. And politics, I guess. Not the kind you're used to, probably.

[She understood that, or at least part of it. Languages and-- politics? Policies? Something like that, but it doesn't matter, she'll pick it up the more he talks.]

Where I'm from, politics is as much about not getting stabbed as it is about making laws. There are no elections, so the only way to get more power is to get rid of the person holding it.

You're an assassin.
[In English, naturally.]

No. [Not that he hasn't employed those types, but you know.]
I just come from a place where politics is a little dicey.

[That's helping, surely.]
I don't do things that other people hire me to do. Murder or non-murder. It's the other way around.
