i'm aware i asked this a few months ago, but now i actually have materials to get started, so i'm asking again:

does anyone know how to sew? hand stitching, specifically. i now have really nice cotton (thank you, delight!!!) that we can make clothes with

right now, we have a bolt of white cotton fabric. if you want a different color, tell delight a happy memory, and she'll give us more fabric. but don't, like, dogpile her or anything. be nice, for fuck's sake

[Sunlight meant salvation back on the mountain, and Emily never did get to see it. Well -- not that she experienced, anyway. According to Chris, she survived the night. She made it until dawn.]

Same. [She rolls her eyes.] Whatever. Can you sew?

[ oh you're talking to the wrong person there, Em. ] Not well enough. [ she did learn to stitch up injuries back during her apprenticeship, courtesy of Jon, but they were never stellar things. ] Just came to drop that off.

Okay. [Have a dubious look and an arched eyebrow.] So do you, like, want me to make you something, or...?

[ really, she wouldn't mind a new hoodie. The orange one that came with her is getting to dire straits, cut and stained as it is from cave trekking. Even her eventual attempts at washing it - as breath-takingly awful as she usually is at laundry - only got so much of the stains out. ]

Just thought you'd want it for practice. [ Practically speaking, it makes more sense to let Em practice before requesting anything, right?

And maybe, just maybe, it's also a partial thank you for dealing with my fucked up shit a couple of weeks ago. ] Wouldn't say no to a new jacket. Think the clothes here are giving me a rash.

[Em's not gonna say no to more fabric, that's for sure.

She looks Kate up and down, inspecting her outfit with an arched eyebrow and a critical half-glare.] They probably are, honestly. I'll put you and Chris down for a newhoodie each.

[Not that Chris asked her for one, but he needs to be relieved of that awful orange one he loves so much.]

Great. [ The briefest smile curls at her lips, and with that, Kate backs out a little. ] S'pose I'll let you get to work.

[ But, because she's trying this whole 'talk to people instead of assuming shit' thing... ] If you need owt-- [ Er... give her a bell? She has more happy memories if needed. ]

[Having seen the cold fury that possessed Kate in her dream, Emily thinks the smile softens her up a bit. (Hasn't she had that said to her before? And not by asshole guys who just want to stare at her. ... it was probably Matt. Don't think about Matt.)

She nods, reaching out to touch the yellow fabric -- oh god this cotton is wonderful -- and then... is that a foreign language?]

[ oh. Right. Uh. She forgets sometimes that her dialect is just that. A dialect. Incomprehensible to those who don't learn it. ]

Uh-huh. [Is that like. Welsh or Gaelic. Em is curious, but not enough to ask. Burned too many times by weebs on the language front. She is not about to look like an idiot here.] Okay. And, um-- same, I guess. I'll let you know when the hoodie's done.
