i'm aware i asked this a few months ago, but now i actually have materials to get started, so i'm asking again:
does anyone know how to sew? hand stitching, specifically. i now have really nice cotton (thank you, delight!!!) that we can make clothes with
right now, we have a bolt of white cotton fabric. if you want a different color, tell delight a happy memory, and she'll give us more fabric. but don't, like, dogpile her or anything. be nice, for fuck's sake
[Emily, who are you to talk about being nice...................]
if you're interested in sewing, meet me here: [and she attaches an image of a map with one of the shops circled]

[And sure, sure, he can talk all he wants about hemming versus sewing, but right now, Emily has just one question.]
What did you just do to that chalk?
no subject
Well, white wasn't going to show up on white, now was it?

[Look man if you can dye stuff with magic, she needs to know.]
no subject
[That was a lot more words than he probably needed for that answer.]

People where I'm from talk about magic and spells and all of that, but you can never really be sure it's real. It's pretty cool that it's actually real where you're from.
[She's sure that if she were from a world like his, she'd want to learn. Hell, she would learn, and she'd be great at it.]

And then, fuck it, she just goes for it.] Can you teach me magic?
no subject
I... honestly don't know?
[He says that as though the thought itself is incredulous.]
I don't know if the magical energy I know to manipulate is intrinsic to my world or not. Learning to harness it is usually started at a young age, but I don't see why an adult couldn't learn glyphcrafting or alchemy.

Emily can work with that.]
You won't know until you try, so you may as well. Do you need, like, a specific time or place or something, or can you just do magic whenever you want?
Now that I kind of have an answer on this!
[He pauses for a second, thinking.]
I already know what he hard part will be: finding reagents.
no subject
[She won't get overly excited about it, in case it doesn't work, but it's still cool.]
Wait, did you find that book an alchemy here? [Can he read whatever language so many of the books in the library are in?]
no subject
[He says that with the proudest grin as he starts cutting the fabric.]
no subject
[Emily is stuck reading about turnip farming.]
Well, tell me when you get what you need. [Because learning magic sounds really cool.
Sewing, by the way, seems easy enough. She could probably replicate this project on her own.] You'll figure out if people who aren't from your world can learn your magic.
