[Chris smiles and gives a small wave at the camera when the feed starts, then turns his hand to show Hope's blessing on the back of it.]

So uh, who else got one? And are they all from Hope, or...?

[This is so cool you guys he wants to see who else got what. And for something else slightly less important by still cool--]

Oh, also, my iPhone was up and working for a bit thanks to Pell, and I managed to get some music off it. I'll share on the condition no one makes fun of my taste.

[The last comment is a joke--he's really not going to be too hurt by jabs about his choice in music--but the offer is serious, and attached is a download of the music he's copied off so far. It's kind of a slow process, so there's still more on the phone that he can transfer later.]

How does that work?

Uh, yeah. It's kind of strange.

Basically they tell us who's up for resurrection, a little about what they're like, and what sort of benefit we'll get for bringing them back. Like, for Delight it was the bar.

Oh. [Huh.]

That's nice. That we can choose.

Yeah. I mean, it's kind of um... It seems kind of wrong to be voting on who to bring back to life first, but I guess since Hope's going to get to them all at some point it's not so bad.

[He's just kind of sensitive to the topic of choosing who to live, though since it's who to bring back to life rather than who dies it's a little different.]

Yeah, it's weird, but it's still nice to have a choice in something here.

[She's glad Hope will get them all too.]

That's true. Though uh, the polls tend to be pretty close, I think; everyone wants different gods and different rewards. My friend is still mad there's no hot springs.

[It's sort of a joke but sort of not; Emily really is still mad about that. Chris is a little unimpressed with the orchard himself, but he wanted the GPS system rather than the hot springs.]

A hot springs? Who was that?

[Jo likes the orchard. It's peaceful in an odd way. Plus the food is...okay.]

That was uh, Love. Confusion was supposed to bring a GPS system.

[He'd like the orchard more if he weren't infinitely suspicious--with good reason--of any food provided by gods who aren't Hope or Delight.]

Never realized there was a God of Confusion. [She laughs quietly. She can see how the GPS could come in so handy here.]

Anything else?

Yeah, go figure. I'd say it explains a lot, but that'd only be true of they were actually around already.

[He thinks about the question a moment.]

There's uh, the whole event thing, if no one's mentioned that?

Event? [She sighs quietly.]

I'm guessing you don't mean like, parties.

No, though uh... One actually was a party.

[Delight's return had definitely been a thing.]

But um, basically the gods here, you know, need energy from our emotions, so usually a few times a month at least one of them does something to try to make us feel that emotion. With Delight and Hope that's usually fine, but um... Rage and Fear's events really suck most of the time.

Too bad they're not invite only or something.

[It sounds like everyone "gets" to attend.]

That'd be nice. Sometimes um, people do get skipped or left out though, at least.

[He'd been left out of an event or two and he's really glad; the ones he's been involved with were more than bad enough.]

Oh? [That's weird. She wonders if there's a reason, but she isn't going to ask.]

Weird.

Yeah. I'm not sure why, but uh... I thought maybe they only have so much power? So sometimes they can't affect everyone. I dunno.

[He's not complaining, whatever the reason.]

I guess that makes sense. [She isn't used to thinking of gods as limited in power.]

Yeah. I know Hope gets pretty wiped whenever he resurrects another god, though I haven't seen any of the others get tired.

[Unfortunately.]

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if that ever happens.

[Poor Hope, doing all the work.]

I think uh, that's most of the important stuff, except for that you um... I mean it's up to you and we're probably being paranoid at this point, but you might want to avoid eating any meat.

[For reasons.]

Okay, you're gonna have to explain that. [She'll avoid the meat, but she's curious about this.]

Rage uh, kind of put human meat in the food, and it just so happened that these spirits from my world that turn you into a monster if you engage in cannibalism had just shown up.

[He's told this story enough times that he can say it casually, but it had definitely been an awful experience. It had been bad enough in his world, let alone that the creatures had apparently followed them here.]

Oh, god. [The thought makes her stomach turn, but then spirits that turn you into monsters?

She shudders.]

Are they gone?

The spirits? I um, don't think so. Pretty sure Hope just pushed them to the caves with the other monsters, but at least um... He took back over on the food front, so.

[So they're relatively safe at the moment, but who knows when that might change? That paranoid fear has kept everyone in his house vegetarian ever since.]

[That's understandable.]

So I'll just avoid meat. [She'll miss it.]
