[So, Ruby's been here awhile but hasn't bothered to make many comments--or any posts--on the network. But she's definitely been stalking them, and learning as much as she can about Hadriel and the people in it.

So that's why she feels confident in making this post, opening with a friendly smile and broadcasting from one of the abandoned shops.]

Hi, everyone. I've met some of you here, but for those I haven't talked to yet, I'm Ruby.

[She smooths a small segment of her hair between her fingers, looking as innocent and nonthreatening as possible.]

I'm helping out with the pickling and jamming and other food preservation efforts now that we have the new orchard, but that's not really what I wanted to talk about. Something totally different, actually.

[She pauses a moment, like she's gathering up her nerve to continue.]

I've seen that a whole lot of people here have magic, or supernatural powers, or some combination of them. I know that there's a lot of reasons why you might want to be private or secretive about them--I have been--but those of you who don't mind sharing, I thought it might be useful to what each other knows. Maybe we can even figure out ways to combine our skills.

[Mostly Ruby wants to know what other people are capable of and how she can use that to her benefit but close enough, right? RIGHT?]

Some of the magic in my world is teachable, too, so I'm willing to talk to anyone who might be interested in that. I can't guarantee anything, but the more we can all take care of ourselves the safer we'll all be.

Actually, magic's pretty rare. Witches use it, and a few non-witch humans or other species have some knowledge of it, but it's more common to have natural powers.

[And then there are rare cases like Ruby who have somewhat equal powers in both areas.]

What kind of superpowers are there where you're from? Is it a big range?

Whoa, seriously? You have witches in your world? [ Johnny is both amazed and delighted. ] Cool!

[ He shrugs. ] Pretty wide range; we've got this huge world eater that came and almost tried to swallow the earth, and there's me, my sister, her husband, and a giant chunk of rock. You can say it's a pretty wide range.

So! What can you do?

A few types. I'm guessing they're not a thing in yours?

[...And okay she doesn't even know what to think about that. World eater? A giant rock? What even?

But he included himself in that list with no specifics, so she'll make sure to return to that after she answers the question.]

Well, I'm a witch myself, so whatever I need to and have the spell for. Mostly defensive magic; this world has nothing on mine when it comes to monsters.

What about you?

Witches, huh? That's pretty cool!

[ He's never actually seen one before, and Ruby's a very hot witch, so. He's just going to go with that. He grins. ] Me? Well.

[ Gotta do a demonstration, right? It only takes a moment before he bursts into flame, and he's grinning. ]

This is me. I'm pretty good at the flying thing, too.

[Well, okay, that's a new one.]

Uh, wow. That's quite a combo of powers.

[Flying and... Turning into fire? Weird even by Ruby's standards, but definitely interesting.]

Now it's your turn.

[ Because as much as Johnny loves showing off, it's always awesome when there are people who have powers, too. ]

My magic is not exactly the flashy type. Nothing like yours.

[She says it coyly, purposefully playing up modesty she doesn't in the slightest actually feel. Though she is telling the truth about the lack of flash in her magic.

That said, she can show off a different way.]

But I can do this, I guess.

[And her camera starts to move, floating away from her and then up, doing graceful figure-eights as she moves her hands in a match to the motion.]
