My name is Rhys and I want to start compiling info so we can start helping each other out and maybe give the new people something to do other than crap their pants when they're screamed at by jelly monsters.

I can program a startup message that can display a welcome guide or info or something the first time a phone is booted up. Hope said he can install it in all future phones too. But unfortunately, I'm one of the recent arrivals to this murdercave and I don't know a lot. That's where you guys come in!

So, give me info, like:

• What the hell is going on. In layman's terms.
• Where people can go to live or whatever.

• What we know about the, uh, supreme beings of this place.

I have this feeling that once you get stuck somewhere, it eventually has to become home. [ she's already trying to make the house here cozier, and more familiar, but it's a bit of a struggle given the total lack of a Bed, Bath & Beyond. ]

So, what's a super cool space station like? I've never been to space, though I've seen it in, like, documentaries, and photos, and I follow NASA on twitter. [ space is kind of totally cool ]

And man, I can't even begin to explain it. Everything is metal and chrome except for where the decorative plants and company posters are. Very high tech. And the windows- damn, imagine looking out into space. We may have mined that planet and it's moon until it cracked, but hell if the pollution didn't make for a gorgeous view, you know?

It was the dream. I lived the dream.

Do they not have space travel on your planet?

That is so not what I was shocked about. [ rhys, there are some things you don't talk about in polite company, and planet destruction should probably be one of them. ] You really consider planetary destruction living the dream? Because that's... really not cool.

Well I mean there wasn't a ton of stuff there anyway. Pretty backwater planet. And it's not like we started it, Dahl got there first and messed it up and then bailed and left a ton of people down there who went insane from exposure and stuff, and then Hyperion- that's me- came down and tried to, you know... cleanse the planet.

While... mining it.

I don't know. It's complicated. Businesses can't really run without profit.

Must be a glitch from when I tried to install the network functions into my OS. I'll work it out.

As for the other stuff... man, I think it's really a 'you had to be there' kind of thing, you know? It seemed like a good idea at the time.

That's generally the sort of thing people say when they want to say 'you're wrong, but I give up trying to explain why'.

I'd be careful. I don't think we have a lot of choices in anti-viral software here.

Look, it's not that, but... You did something terrible, but you just brush it off as if it's nothing. Some people might find that... off-putting.
