[While Nick isn't surprised to hear someone say Mello is a dangerous criminal, given his record in town -- assuming this is the same Mello, of course, as 'Mello' isn't exactly the most common name he's come across -- he does feel obligated to correct this newcomer, if only for the fact that they all need to be working together. Spreading misinformation, causing distrust when there isn't evidence or reason for it hurts all of them. [That'd be giving him way too much credit, and besides he had only shown up relatively recently. Of course it could be a different person named Mello, but with such an unusual name and the fact that people from the same world seem to show up often here it's more likely that the Mello he knows and the one Misa's talking about are the same.

Even if that whole kidnapping thing is a bit unsettling. Then again, considering what Mello's done here already, not hugely surprising.]
