Much as I would have preferred not to be pulled unceremoniously from my own world, it has occurred to me that this is a rare opportunity to learn about worlds I was previously unaware of.

[In other words, this is her polite way of saying "I'm bored, entertain me".]

How many are from worlds were magic exists? How many are from worlds where the technology is highly advanced?

[She's more interested in the magic portion, really, but she is curious about people's answers regardless.]

What is the government structure like in your world?

Inquiring minds want to know. Or this one does, at least.

[ Luna's voice is weak as it filters in over the feed; her recovery from her arrival has been a long and slow process, and she spends most of her days relegated to the couch she'd been brought to upon arriving. ]

Magic... is commonplace in Eos. It is utilized as both an energy source as well as in weaponry, capable of being contained in flasks. I'm not entirely certain what constitutes as "highly advanced," but the Crown City is often at the forefront of technology from where I hail.

[ Lunafreya pauses for a moment before speaking again, taking a breath. ] Monarchies are prevalent upon Eos, though the city of Altissia is ruled by its first secretary. [ A smile ekes into her voice when she speaks again. ] I would hope this has proven informative. I've been very curious about the worlds of others, as well.

[ This is Noctis. This is Noctis trying to be social. Because he's kind of holed up in an apartment while he fusses over, oh look! The girl who's already commented on where they come from. ]

[ But Noctis doesn't realize that until he's already started responding. ]

[ He clears his throat. ]

It has been very informative, thank you. I suppose it's only fair to share a little of my own world, then. Much like yours, monarchies are prevalent. The percentage of magic users in the population varies country by country, with the highest percentage hailing from the Kingdom of Fiore, where ten percent of the population has the ability to wield magic in some capacity or another.

[Well, that's...considerably less detailed. But still, Ikaruga can have a pleasant chat.]

Are there laws that govern the use of magic in your world?

[ Oh. Well. At least he can be some help here. ]

It's limited.

Mostly to someone in the royal line, passed down through lineage. There's an option to pass on magic to someone else. Like a guard or soldier.

But they're essentially borrowing it.

Oh, that's quite a difference from magic in my world. So only the royal family is born with magic?

Pretty much.

Luna made a good point about how it's contained and used. It's pretty malleable and versatile to those who can use it. Can be put in a bottle, mixed with other elements. Give it a high enough potency, and it's more powerful than most weapons.

In my world, magic comes from particles called ethernano. It's in every living thing and the planet itself, although only a smaller percentage of people is actually able to harness it. Mages usually manifest their abilities in childhood while emotionally distressed.

[He could just answer like a normal person, of course, but Firo finds it difficult living life without giving others a hard time.]

That's a rather high number. In Eos, only the chosen king of Lucis and those connected to his line is capable of using magic to a great degree. It's a heavy burden, but it ensures the peace and security of Lucian subjects.

[ A breath. ] As the king's Oracle, I am capable of utilizing a different form of magic. My bloodline is tied to the gods of our star, as are my abilities. In this place, I only have my own energies to rely upon... and while I am able to access the majority of my powers, they are woefully limited here.

[ Luna falls silent for a few moments before speaking again. ]

And of which percentage of your world's population are you?

What would you consider highly advanced, as far as technology goes? [ Allison wouldn't say her home's tech is highly advanced, after all, but it greatly depends on where one's from. ] As for magic, we do have some. It's not incredibly common, though.

Huh.

[ It's a sound of interest, not of question. Noctis has never heard of that before. ]

Sounds kind of... Devastating, actually. I can't imagine being a kid discovering powers by accidentally lighting everything on fire. Or something.

How do you cast?

Often is magic and technology both at odds with other but in my realm of Eos, they exist hand-in-hand.

[Excuse the muffled yawn that follows. There's no sleep for the weary and Regis is quite fatigued. His first few days in Hadriel were quite perilous. He honestly doesn't feel too grand right now but he won't pass up a good conversation.]

Admittedly magic is used as a renewable source of energy rather spells cast from a tome. They're also used as weaponry as well in times of strife but I mainly wield it as a means of defense. The entirety of the Crown City was shielded with my magic.

[He fails to answer that second inquiry out of worry that he'll tell too much. Who knows who could be listening on here.]

All three are things that can significantly shape a society and their culture.

Ah, there's the trick to the question. It's entirely subjective. Let us use the phones and the transportation available here as our measure of "average" for level of technology.

[All of the technology in her world has a magical component anyway.]

What sort of magic do people wield where you come from?

In that case, where I come from is more advanced by quite a bit but I wouldn't personally classify it as highly advanced. That, to me, would be like... Holograms and teleportation devices, that kind of thing.

[ Certain shows and movies would come to mind, if they could. ]

I don't really know too much about it, personally, but I think it's mostly protective spells and stuff. Not too many people are able to do it.

[It's nice to be able to have an intelligent conversation on here. Entertaining as some of the sillier things are on here, sometimes a conversation with substance is better. Especially when she's getting to know her new neighbours that she'll be stuck with for the foreseeable future.]

Much of the technology in my world has a magical component. Typically, a sort of crystal called a lacrima is implanted into a device and imbued with specific properties.

[She notes what was said before about Eos and only royals using magic...]

If the city is shielded with your magic, does that mean you are royalty?

Your magic sounds slightly like the celestial mages of my world. They have keys that allow them to summon specific spirits.

[Not that it's Ikaruga's type of magic, but they are a known phenomenon.]

I am part of the ten percent.

Fortunately, children's magic is weak at first, so the property damage is minimal. Basic control is fairly easily achieved, too.

[A pause.]

It varies greatly, mage by mage. Most of mine is wielded through my sword. Or a bladed weapon if my sword is unavailable.

Magic is more common where I am from. Enough for there to be a magic council and established guilds for mages to join.

Ah, my gods are known as "Astrals," so I can definitely see the similarity. Perhaps I have more in common with your world than we had initially thought.

[ Lunafreya laughs softly. ]

I see. Do you have a specific specialty like the mages you mentioned?

It seems our worlds do have a few similarities. Enough to compare and contrast them.

[Good guess on that one, Lunafreya. She's not going to brag extensively about her power because it would have no tangible benefit, but she's not going to hide it, either.]

Mine is wielded primarily through my sword. I've never encountered something I could not cut. Even magically enhanced armour.

Lacrima? [Forgive him if he's a little surprised. It seems that their two worlds are oddly connected in terms of language. First the common tongue and now Latin? How odd.] Is it safe to assume that these crystals are shaped like "tears"?

[That's certainly what he's assuming here.]

Certain forms of magic in Eos can be utilized in a similar fashion but mostly as a form of explosive unless cast from capable hands.

[At the next question, Regis goes silent for a moment before letting out a soft sigh.]

Usually they are spheres. The only other shape I've seen lacrima in has been as raw, uncrafted crystal. We do have lacrima that can be used as explosives.

[She's a bit surprised by that moment of silence, but doesn't comment on it.]

Would you prefer to be addressed with your title or simply your given name?

[Regis has his reasons for growing silent but none of which he'll state openly. Make no assumptions though, he's proud to hail from a long line of kings but he's growing hesitant whether or not he should state his full title here.

He's technically no longer the King of Lucis. He died. His son is to take up the title now.]

As simple a question as that might be, it confounds me nonetheless. For years, I've lived as Regis Lucis Caelum the One-Hundred and Thirteenth of my name, the King of Light but now I find myself donning my given name more often than ever before.

[A sigh follows.]
