He ended up in a hell of a shape after being defeated by his double, and now he’s only just coming to enough to really think about what that battle had meant… Failure. He had failed to defeat his darker self, the one thing he’d devoted his life to achieving…]

[He's seriously wondering again if Hadriel is some sort of eternal punishment.]

So… it sounds as if the doubles are gone entirely? A shame. I for one wouldn't mind if mine returned. He owes me a rematch.

[No, it's probably not a good idea to even wish for such a thing, but he doesn't care. He needs this to happen, one way or another. He has so much to prove.]

Did anyone manage to defeat their other selves? If so… how did you manage it?

Kain, even assuming you almost had him in a context of brute force how does that help you considering the other you we knew was born from the weakness of your heart and was pretty much some kind of psycological... thing, right? Those are two completely different things. Muscles and feelings, I mean.

[She'd almost ask him "do you think defeating him would make you able to go and congratulate Cecil and Rosa on your wedding?" but that'd go too far. Maybe. still, she's annoyed by his attitude...]

[Which isn't to say that she's especially nice. She's just got self-restraint.]

I do not harm others outside of self-defense, work, or consenting fights. A more evil version of myself would likely not bother with such standards.

I defeated my double, but it turned out to be a mutual kill. Of course, the only one who could ever kill me would be myself. [There's an amused note to his voice, though it is a little forced.] As for how I did it, quite simple. I just killed him using my mind.

Perhaps that's a good tactic to take, not caring what happens to yourself, as long as that darker self is destroyed. [Maybe something to consider next time, if he ever gets a next time. He can respect giving one's life in such a cause. But something was pretty creepy about what he said.]

He was going to hurt my friends. Nobody hurts my friends. [There's a grim tone to Ushahin's voice. He'd always known he would die to keep them safe. Now, he'd proven it. His next words are very matter of fact.]

Yes. The mind is my specialty. I try not to do it often, but when things need to be done, I don't hesitate.

[Ok, so perhaps the 'friend' part doesn't belong there at all. But Kain does have a relationship with his dark self that others may not.]

He caused me considerable torment back home, and it's become my life's goal to defeat him one day. I need to face him again for that reason.
