What is it I can do for you?

There's a chance that people will keep trying to shoot each other -- including those who aren't participating. Destroyed my own gun and paint, so that just leaves me with one that shoots actual bullets.

Am thinking the odds are better that you can heal a gunshot wound better than... whatever the hell sort of paint people are being hit with right now.

You're going to... shoot people with a real gun aside from one of these paint-firing monstrosities.

... You do have a a point, though. I can heal a gunshot. This, I... I can do nothing for someone who is comatose from it.

[His voice tapers off, shaking the more he talks. He doesn't want to admit his helplessness, but he's sure she knows.]

Only if they try to go after me or anyone else who isn't getting involved in this shit.

That's the idea. If anyone goes too far, it's possible to disable them without killing them, and then take their gun away after so they don't go after anyone else.

You have my support in this endeavor. I would prefer to use my energies healing than to have others succumb to this madness. What if they never awaken? What if they're trapped within their own minds, being tortured with nightmarish visions, and we can do nothing to help them?

Trying not to think too much about that.

Doubt that the gods would leave them in a permanent stasis, since they need us. [Unless they decide that they're more trouble than they're worth and just leech off the emotions from their coma-fever dreams, but again -- one thing at a time.] Guess we'll see after a week.

What would you do, were you to lose someone here?

Guess it depends on how they're lost. Because they were sent back home, or because something happened to them here that there's no god to conveniently resurrect them?

Hard to say. People die all the time. Have lost a lot. You just learn to move on. You have to, or you don't. [Because it arguably beats the alternative.]

[For someone who has also lost a lot of people in his life, Carlisle has never quite learned to move on. It's easier to stay where he is, mired in his sorrow, than to face the uncertain future.]

And if someone were to take them from you?

[Ah, yes. That's the million dollar question right there.]

What do you think would happen to them?

[It's entirely rhetorical. Carlisle might have a not-so-pretty picture painted for him just from the tone in her voice alone.]

I don't know what I'd do, if I'm being honest. I feel as though there'd be a fire burning in my chest, but no way to extinguish it.

I don't know if I have it in me to do even that. It's not as though revenge would bring back the lost.

Maybe not, but depending on the one responsible and their intent, it can at least prevent them from doing the same shit to someone else.

It isn't always the best solution, but neither is letting some shit go unpunished.

He wasn't what you'd consider secretive about his behavior. People like that keep lashing out at others so long as they think they're the ones who've been wronged.
