Hello, everyone! I wanted to let you know that the Sewing Shop is open for business. Please stop by if you need your garments mended or if you need something new that you can't find in the shops. I know how hard it is to find things that fit properly there.

I'm also available to give sewing lessons should you wish to learn! It's a very useful skill to have, especially here where anything can happen.

Why, if my lady says so, then surely I must obey.

No, no easier. But I'm hopeful that Daenerys will be able to bring an end to all of the wars and see the Seven Kingdoms united once more. Unfortunately, there will have to be a lot of death before that happens. Some will be people who have it coming, like Cersei. Others will just be. . . a moment slower than their opponent.

[she gives him a naughty little smile]

It's nice to be obeyed. I've missed it.

[bythewaves]

[ He laughs ]

I see you and Matt may have to note a few things!

Oh, that will be--different. I'll have to rely on him to navigate his world. It will likely take a while before I'm truly settled.

[bythewaves]

I'm sure you will do admirably. [ He smiles fondly ]

You did well enough here, after all! I assume Matt's world lacks the emotionally manipulative rulers, hopefully.

One would certainly hope so. Though, I'm told that his world doesn't have kings or queens. Instead, the people choose their rulers. That sounds risky to me.

[bythewaves]

Risky in some ways, but useful in others. It would, theoretically, motivate folk who wish to rule to do well, lest someone else be chosen!

[roseofthetyrells]

Or it could lead to someone like Cersei putting on an act, fooling everyone, then seizing power. And then what could be done to be rid of them?

[bythewaves]

And that's the risk. [ he smiles wryly ]

Although I would guess that there are measures in place for that eventuality.

I wonder what kinds of measures? Killing the offender would settle the matter for good, but what if their followers rose up and revolted?

[bythewaves]

I suppose without knowing Matt's world it is hard to judge. Perhaps there are failsafes in place if they seek to hold power for an extended term?

[roseofthetyrells]

There would have to be, if humans on Earth are anything like humans in Westeros. So many Westerosi hunger for power and those that have it will do anything to keep it.

[bythewaves]

Mm, that's true everywhere, I think. It's only a matter of how many folk think that way, and what they're prepared to do for it. Also, what the society around them will allow them to get away with. I don't know - Matt's world is too unfamiliar to me to guess. Did he speak to you of those sorts of things?

[roseofthetyrells]

We spoke of the fact that there are no ruling kings or queens in his world and that leaders are generally chosen by election. I'd hope that people are . . . better in his world, although I know that there still are criminals who have to be stopped.

[bythewaves]

People will be people. [ Maglor agrees ] But societal norms also play a part in such things - if people expect to be removed if they do not perform, one would hope that it would make them create an effort to do well.

[roseofthetyrells]

One would most certainly hope so! Grandmother would probably be very cross with me for not pursuing the world of public service when I go to Matt's world. I think I'd like to continue making clothes. I have ideas for dresses that aren't based off of clothing from home and I think I'd like to try making them.

[bythewaves]

No reason why you couldn't make clothes as a sideline, I suppose - although it might make things a little difficult. But tis good to have a steady source of income, I think.

[roseofthetyrells]

Yes, I'm told that there is no shortage of women looking for fancy dresses in Matt's world. Something about movie stars, whatever those are?

[bythewaves]

I think that is true on every world! But tge phrase makes no sense to men I'm afraid...Possibly if we knew what a movie is and why stars are related to it.

[roseofthetyrells]

Movies are apparently plays which are recorded on one device and played on another. I'd assume that a movie star is someone who acts in the plays?

[bythewaves]

Ah... yes, I suppose that would make sense. [ He says consideringly ] In which case, it would make sense - for plays one needs many costumes, after all.

[roseofthetyrells]

Yes, and each one has to be more impressive than the last one. The only problem I can see is that apparently many theatre people have big egos.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor laughs ] I think that is true for everyone in such businesses!

[roseofthetyrells]

I would imagine so! When I was a little girl and the pressures of my lessons got to be too much for me, sometimes I'd fantasize about running away with a troupe of actors.

[bythewaves]

[ He grins ]

Take it from someone who did that for a year - although mind, I did not actually run away as such! - it really isn't anywhere near as fun as it sounds. One starts to miss a soft bed and warm baths rather swiftly!
