Hey everyone, this is Peter. I'm, uh... Just lemmie-- Okay, I'm gonna preface this with "I'm fine", which... probably still sounds concerning to anyone who knows me. Uh, with good reason, but I promise that I really am fine.

So... okay, you know those freaky tentacle snails that attacked those guys a little while ago? Yeah, they're still around. I ran into a few of them outside the city, and by 'ran into' I mean 'was totally ambushed by'. Like, I was just minding my own business and they jumped out all "Blahhhhgh!" and I was like "oh snap!!", so yeah, we fought a little and I got bit and, y'know, it hurt. And I know the one guy was all "hey call for back up if you see any" and I totally would have if I'd had a chance, but I didn't? I mean, not because I didn't want to, it's just like, in the moment I was a little distracted by trying to get away from the things, and I didn't have my web shooters on me because they're possessed by demons right now? So I wasn't gonna even try to catch one of those guys without my gear, so I left. My toothbrush tried to stab me this morning, I'm not dealin' with this on top of that today. I'm done, I'm tapping out!

Anyway, if anyone else ends up fighting these guys, go for the eyes if you can. They're kind of hard to hit because of all the tentacles, but if you can take their eyes out it slows them down. They're still dangerous, though, like, they will absolutely still try to fight you, so just like, don't stick around if you can help it. In fact, just don't go outside the city by yourself. Don't go anywhere by yourself. Y'know, buddy system up if you can. I don't know how many of these dudes are still out there, but I have a feeling that they're not going away any time soon.

Oh right, I did manage to break a chunk off one of their shells. I don't know how helpful that's gonna be? But I've got it at the lab if anyone wants to see it, assuming you can pry it away from Newt. I also got a photo! It's... not a very good one, but uh, I'll put this somewhere, I guess.

How many of them were there? And how'd they catch you off-guard?

There were four, And uh... okay so, normally I've got this like-- I can feel when something's coming? But since literally everything in the city is alive and screwing with me right now, I just-- I didn't notice until they were right up on me. And that's on me, like, I just wasn't paying attention.

Just making sure they don't have some kind of cloaking device.

[Because that's just what the city needs: invisible weird squid things.]

Get that bite checked out. You gonna be okay?

I mean, if they do, I wouldn't be able to tell you just from this encounter alone. Things are weird right now.

The bite's fine. I washed it, got a bandage on it. I'm okay. It'll probably be healed by tomorrow.

All right. Any other weapons you saw on them, or was it just beaks and tentacles?

I didn't see anything else on them, no. Just those, and they were trying to body slam me and stuff? I guess that counts, their whole body is kind of a weapon in that regard.

I'll see who I can get out there. And make sure they don't go alone -- that none of us patrol alone for the time being.

[Superpowers or not, Nick is never going to be okay with ~~kids~~ teenagers being maimed, especially when they're partially his responsibility. His voice softens just a little as he realizes he might be going about this a bit too hard.]

Look. You've done enough for now. We've got another picture, and some more information on where they are, what they might be doing, and how we can handle them. Just get some rest, and see if you can help out at the lab while you're there.

[Peter can handle it!!! But he is a little relieved when it sounds like Nick isn't mad. At him, at least.]

Yeah, sure thing, I can do that. I'll uh, let you know if we find anything out about the sample, I guess?

Thanks, Peter. I'm hoping they'll steer clear of town, but just in case they get any bright ideas about following you to the lab, it's good someone is out there.

Oh, I don't think that they did. I hit the roofs as soon as I got back in town, and I didn't see any of them trying to follow me.

How fast do they move? Do they walk on those tentacles, or do they have some other way?

Not... quite? As far as I could tell, the tentacles only came out of their... I guess mouth region? It looked more like they were just scooting themselves along with them, almost like they were... I don't know, gliding? Which probably sounds really weird, but those tentacles definitely weren't supporting their whole body weight with how frequently they tried to slap me with them. So unless they're built on top of like, one big wheel? I'm gonna say gliding. They were super fast, though, getting away from them took some effort.
