So uh... Hey everyone. Again.

I know like, a bunch of people just arrived so... Welcome, I guess. We're still working on the newbie's guide to waking up in a cave-city run by gods, but until then like, if you have any questions I can try and help? Also uh, it's probably safe at this point and we're just being paranoid, but you may want to avoid eating any meat products you find here. For reasons.

Also uh, sort of related, but I was thinking that maybe before next month we should really... Plan some way to help out? I mean, people just sort of show up and half the time there's monsters too, and... Maybe some sort of organized thing for helping the new people not get like, eaten or whatever would be a good idea.

[This is not exactly his area of expertise, so if other people want to take charge on this he's more than happy to let them, but otherwise he'll try and figure something out. It really seems like something important to get established.]

In uh, a rare moment of good news though, the whole coffee thing worked out. So if you want coffee there's some at Delight's bar now, though you'll have to like... Be kind of patient with me and the others being possibly terrible baristas. Still kind of getting the hang of the whole thing.

[But surely coffee itself is well worth any less-than-practiced customer service; they're at least pretty good at making coffee, including somewhat elaborate drinks, and as far as Chris is aware they're all trying. That's what counts, right?

I think that's about it, except for that like... If anyone's curious, the handheld games from the arena this month are just normal games. I thought maybe they'd be some sort of weird alien-versions of them, but I guess not; I took one apart and it was all the expected stuff inside it.

That said I'm totally betting I can beat anyone's high scores.

There's a lot of information to gather, and type out, but I think a month should be more than adequate. As long as the Gods don't mess with us too badly.

Still, it'd be a lot better if we could do something more fun than writing papers.

I like the idea of a convention. I've always wanted to go to comic con, maybe even cosplay!

Okay, then we're so going to comic con when we get back home.

[He could totally be convinced to cosplay if she's doing it.]

Is it weird that I'm excited? Because I'm excited.

[ she knows it probably won't happen, that the things they talk about now won't have much effect on home because who knows how their timelines even work anymore, but she likes to imagine it could. ]

Me too. And if you like Comic Con, we could also go to game conventions or tv ones or whatever else; there's tons.

[Little Chris when to GenCon SoCal before it was cancelled and it was the best.]

I think it'd be cool to visit a bunch, as long as we can avoid the furry conventions. Something about people in anthropomorphic animal costumes creeps me out.

Ew, yeah, no furries. Staying far away from furries.

We should totally trick Mike into going to a furry convention though.

[Because for some reason Mike seems like he'd have the funniest reaction.

What happens if he ends up liking it? I'm not going to be responsible for another furry in the world, Chris!

Let's be real though he'd never come out of the furry closet while he was still about the politics thing. I don't think that'd all go over well.

[The question gives him pause, because it's definitely a good one. Who knows, at this point, what any of them are going to do; who knows how things will change.]

I guess it depends on why he wanted to in the first place.

I don't think I ever asked him why. [ she kind of regrets that now. it's funny how much she misses Mike, how she misses all of them now. ]

Me either. I guess I sort of assumed he just liked the spotlight and power and whatever.

[Which might be the case, but after the Mike that Chris saw on the mountain he wonders if Mike's choice of hopefully profession might really just come from a desire to help people.]

I miss him sometimes, Chris.

[ Honestly, she misses them all, all the time. ]

Me too. And Sam.

[And Matt and Jess too, but having Mike and Sam around in this place had been nice. They're both so capable and tough and able to deal with anything that gets thrown at them, and the two of them in particular help make their group so strong. It would be really great--as selfish as it is--to have them here.]

Yeah.

[ some things might have turned out differently if those two were still with them, but there's no reason to linger on it too long. they'll see them again, one day. ]
