They're scared of me, so they hate me. Lots of abuse, but there's not much anyone can do when I'm the sheriff.

That's just the ones who aren't actively trying to kill me.

At home some people are afraid of me and some people act like I'm a novelty. both bad in different ways.

A sheriff is like a peacekeeper? Law enforcement?

I don't really think any attention is good attention at this point in my life.

Pretty much, but a lot of the time it feels more like glorified babysitter. Mostly I got the job because I was the least likely to get killed in the course of duty.

Not usually. Only if I get in their way. Or they have a centuries-old grudge against me.

Or they're psychotic assholes.

Basically a large number of very specific people want to kill me.
