[ Will Kanda ever use something beyond text and voice? WHO KNOWS. He's a little breathless, very likely from fighting the new horde of zombies that have come to encroach on underground his home, but when he speaks? When he speaks, there's not a hint of irritation or exhaustion, rather the exact opposite of it.

There's definitely groaning off in the distance as more slowly make their way toward him, but he has a moment. ]

Fear, is this honestly the best you have? [ There's a smirk in his voice as he's definitely grinning widely off screen. ] You know, when someone poses a challenge, you ought to actually step up your game.

This is still weak.

That's a shock. When the hell did that happen?

Um, really early on. I mean, that's the only time I know of specifically, but he definitely altered an event to makes it more uh... Upsetting, I guess. Though it also turned out to be a good thing in a way.

[Sorry for that awful explanation.]

[ That's a little confusing. ] So he just tweaked something to make it upsetting and it backfired.

I still say he sucks at his namesake, then.

Well, not exactly, it was just... It was more terrifying on one way and less in another. At least for awhile, and then it was just bad in both.

[And stop taunting Fear omg.]

[Ugh he's going to have to actually explain and he doesn't really want to.]

Bad like, we had more time before anyone would run out of air from being buried alive, but then once you got toward the end of that time you'd had the shitty experience of being stuck in a box for three days and then having to worry about suffocating after all.

[It was not a great experience all around.]

[ Yes he is because Chris is being stupidly vague and it's kind of annoying because he wants to know! ]

It was um, the second month I was here, so like eight months ago.

Then he's been pretty complacent since, it sounds like.

Well it was like, wendigo city central right after that, then there was the whole dream thing a few months ago. But he's got um, more competition now with there being five gods here instead of just him, Hope, and Rage.

Wen-- [ Kanda pls it was the first! thing! Chris warned you about in April. He's humming softly as the groaning behijd him gets louder, too loud.

I think I've seen them, but I actually haven't at the same time.

[He's wincing at the sound of all that zombie action, but at least Kanda sounds like he handled the zombie(s?) alright.]

[ Hell yeah he did. Slice and dice, broski. Need him to help with it? He's obviously got no fear of them. He's seen worse, unfortunately. ]

I don't know. I think I dreamed about them? I never seen them in the caves.

Oh. Yeah, that'd make sense; I guess um... A lot of people probably dream about them.

[He definitely does.]

But you wouldn't see them in the caves, since I think they're all just spirits right now.

If you say so. [ Which makes no sense to him at all. Guess who doesn't realize that it was just a dreamscape... ]

How the hell would that happen? Weren't they just monsters?

[Dreamscapes were the first thing Chris thought, considering he'd ended up in Emily's wendigo dream and a few people had ended up in his. Wendigo dreams suck.]

No, there's uh, spirits first I think? And then they possess people and turn them into monsters, but if you kill the monster the spirit's still fine.

[ You're going to have to excuse the long pause. What Chris described just almost literally sounded like Akuma to him. God, that's just kind of creepy. ]

Almost sounds like what I'm used to. Almost. [ Because saving spirits - souls - whatever, was always the least of his worries. ]

[That's an interesting response, and Chris is curious but also hesitant to ask. Still--]

My world has Akuma. The distraught summon the Millennium Earl, who goads the mourning into calling the dead back. Then the dead lose their soul, kill the living, take over their body, and serve the Earl. They blend in easily, even flawlessly until we Exorcists come along.

[He does indeed regret it a little, but he's also pretty curious about that.]

That uh... Sounds super not great.

Wendigos totally don't blend in with people, though. Except they can uh, mimic voices.

It's not. There's no saving those souls.

Mimicking anything can screw with you if you aren't prepared for it.

[He's quiet a moment.]

There's um... There's no saving someone who's turning into a wendigo either.

Yeah. And I mean, the jabberjays here like to mimic wendigos too, so it's like insult to injury.
