Consider the following exercise in critical thinking, if you can tear yourselves away from gossiping about each others' love lives long enough to put some actual thought into formulating an answer:

If you had never before encountered a being like yourself before - a human, for example, or however you classify yourself - what would you most want to know about these beings? What are the most important concepts that are fundamental to your existence?

Seems like with an attitude like that, you wouldn't concern yourself too much with whether you're alienating allies.

I've been trying to do better, considering that the other ranking officer I live with says I've got all the same charms of getting allies as a womp rat.

Those in positions of authority do seem to enjoy making sure everyone around them recognizes that authority. Do you find this "ranking officer" to be correct in his analysis of you?

He's only right half the time if that. Besides, Hux is as terrible at interacting with people as I am.

Then his advice hardly seems worth considering. Or are you the type to place particular significance on the estimation others hold for you?

I never listen to what other people say. They're usually wrong to begin with.
