Third ☂ Text

Many of you seem to be unhappy.

We don't all necessarily want you to be happy, but acceptance and adaptation to your situation would be a start. The only question that remains is: how?

It is clear to us that your species resolves many issues through communication. Unfortunately, none of us understand the human psyche as clearly as others of your species, and so I leave it to you to communicate with and to help one another.

You may consider this post an open forum in which you can discuss what's been bothering you. In turn, I will conceal your identities, so that you may help one another without preconceived biases. If you'd like to reveal yourselves to one another, the option is there, but unnecessary.

Heal. Recover.

I'll leave you to it.

[Still conflicted, it's some time before she finally responds.]

I'll be at the bar before the light fades.

[Marian does not go out at night without a damn good reason.]

As will I. I'll be at the small table in the corner.

[And so he is -- and lo and behold, it's the guy who nearly got his leg torn off for a flytrap. He's not the only person in the bar, but he's the only person in the corner, and definitely the only one with papers, an ink pen, and a couple of mugs before him.]

[Marian hovers near the door, haggard and unsure as she scans the room and.... oh are you kidding. Him? It has to be, of course. 'Enchanted' tea.

Well, at least there's one positive thing here. He doesn't exactly seem like a suspicious character, unlike certain other bony or icy monstrosities she's seen roaming the city.

She sighs, and makes her way over to his table, slumping into a seat.]

It's you, isn't it.

[She says flatly, tired. It's about time to just give up. Magic, sure, whatever.]

[Carlisle's eyes flick up to Marian as she slides into the other seat at the table, mild surprise coloring him.]

Ah, the woman who didn't know what magic is and questioned my humanity. We meet again.

[There's no malice in his voice as he says that, but it might be the booze talking. Despite the air around him, he seems lucid enough.]

[Healing his injuries seems like such a trivial oddity now, compared to the rest of the mismatched denizens of the city in the last couple months. Marian sighs, with just enough presence of mind to bite back a snippy remark. He offered to help her. There's no need to be like that. Just get to the point.]

At least I'm reasonably confident that your... recipe? Concoction? Potion? What exactly is the proper... no, never mind. Let's just say that I'm willing to call it whatever you'd like if it's effective.

It's tea.

[Tea enchanted through the fine art of glyphcrafting, but tea nonetheless. Such a boring name for something magical.]

You can technically enchant most drinks, but I find water and tea work the best for maintaining the enchantment. I personally like breathing in the steam as opposed to drinking it, but some people do the other or both, and it seems just as effective.

[Marian sighs again. Well, at least he doesn't go all out on the terminology of the fantastic then. She's not really sure if that makes it better or worse.]

How long from then until it takes effect?
tongueamok: (➣ but no one likes when i'm right)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-03-04 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Magic affects everyone differently. A quarter hour if you have some form of magical resistance. Seconds if you have none at all. It has no effect at all on constructs or other artificial beings.

[He uncaps his pen and scribbles a glyph much like the one he made for Emily, albeit a little cleaner. He will one day learn how to draw a circle well.]

[It's hard not to still look a bit skeptical. Especially with that penmanship.]

We'll see, then. [she concludes.] Is that it?
tongueamok: (➣ i said i'd consider it)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-03-04 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Carlisle sets one of the mugs in the middle of the glyph he drew -- it looks like the mug has tea it in, probably the kind from the cart Chris and his friends run. Coffee is far more their specialty, but this will do.

Next, he places his fingers on the arc at the bottom of the illustration, and the lines light up bit by bit, filled with energy the way blood would fill a vein. The drink bubbles in the mug, steaming as the light dies and the ink on the paper boils away.

Last, he covers the mug with another piece of paper to keep too much of the steam from escaping into the air around them -- and more importantly, from making them drowsy.]

That is it. Try it out, and it if hasn't the desired effect, I can enchant it stronger, or you can try one of the other methods prescribed to you on the communicator. And if it does work, I can make you some to keep around your dwelling and drink at your leisure.

[Marian watches this whole process silently with a frown, lips pressed firmly together and brown eyes flicking up a couple times to watch Carlisle's expression while he's doing whatever exactly is going on here. "Magic" indeed.

If it does work, she'll definitely have a lot more questions. As it is, however...]

It'll be fine to take it back to the apartment like that? I don't exactly plan to drink it here if it could be as fast as you suggest it could be.
tongueamok: (➣ earnestness only goes so far)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-03-04 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't drink it now, no. Not unless you want to be here for the next six to eight hours in a dreamless slumber. It might be a bit cold by the time you return to your apartment, but the enchantment will still work, should you drink it.

[Note to self: find a way to make this stuff portable for those who cannot enchant the tea themselves.]
einselective: (worried)

[Marian reaches over to pull the bug across the table, careful to not let the paper over top slip off. Regardless of the method used, 'dreamless slumber' sounds pretty good. Time to get back to her apartment and lock herself in. Assuming it works (and why wouldn't it, after the healing she'd seen), the only question remaining was: ]

That's fine. And you don't.... want anything in exchange?

[Asked less out of suspicion and more uncertainty over what she could even offer.]
tongueamok: (➣ uncertainty as natural as breath)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-03-06 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't believe you have anything I want.

[Apparently, he thought the same thing. He changes his mind only half a second later:]

Although... you remember that odd plant I had with me last time we met? I... lost mine recently, and if you should come upon another somewhere, I'd like it.
einselective: (1000yd stare)

[personal profile] einselective 2017-03-06 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Marian looks a little blank at the request. Well... as unlikely as it seems that she'd find another, it's innocuous enough. Though it's very situational, she supposes she might as well ask...]

When and where did you last see it?
tongueamok: (➣ personal reflection)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-03-06 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Days ago. I have—

[No, correction:]

... had a garden atop one of the stores. It burned. I lost it along with the others.

[Which might be why he's glued to the bottles of liquor near him.]
einselective: (slow sidestare)

[personal profile] einselective 2017-03-06 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Oh...

[Too late for a minor favor, then. Marian's fingers curl around the warm cup of tea, and after a brief hesitation, suggests:]

If there's any small incident like that again, I might be able to help. Not much, but a little. I would just need to know sooner rather than later.

[That's about all she can really say. A couple people have seen her device's power in action, but that doesn't mean she wants to go spilling details if it's not necessary. That's just one of many ways to end up with trouble you don't need.]

But if I see a similar plant, I'll let you know. ....thank you.
tongueamok: (➣ s i g h)

[personal profile] tongueamok 2017-03-06 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Sooner rather than later. He doesn't know what to make of that, but he will take what help he can get.]

Thank you.

[It's just a plant Carlisle... though by how distraught he looks, plants apparently mean a lot to him for one reason or another.]

Let me know if that doesn't work, or if there's anything else I am able to do.
