Tomorrow afternoon, we're hosting a class on the clinic on how to stabilize an injured person and then safely move the body, in an environment where the dead come back to life and where there's no serious expectation of sophisticated medical care.

It's going to be utilitarian and potentially grimly upsetting, but I suggest anyone with any kind of a stomach for it come to the clinic for noon. If you're conservative about touch, please bring a partner who you trust to manhandle you in body-lifting exercises. Of course you're welcome to opt out of that portion of the day, if need be.

Please bring donations of any medical supplies, if you can.

If you're new to Hadriel in the last couple of months, I'm Doctor Banner, I'm one of the clinic volunteers. I'm not technically a medical doctor, but since we lost Doctor Pierce, beggars can't be choosers. We've already covered wound care, risk of infection, and stitches and suturing. I'm happy to link you to that material, go over any of it in person, or continue stitching lessons for anyone who needs a refresher. [ Dean wanders his way in a little further, poking his head around, checking things out. And sure, it looks under-equipped. But that's not entirely the point here, a fact that's somewhat obvious by the fact that Dean doesn't look distressed at the lack of... everything. ]

Honestly? I'm just kinda impressed that we've got a clinic at all- place doesn't exactly scream hospitality.

Well, that was us, not the gods.

[He points out, quietly.]

Early months, we had a military doctor with us- one who'd worked in a mobile army surgical hospital in Korea. That was also when we were having the most monster attacks- things have actually gotten a little better since, now we mostly dispense ace bandages for sprains from all the rubble, and burn cream for the fireflies this month.

Still, that's not too bad. I mean, i've given stitches with floss more times than I can count over the years- [ Dean, perhaps that isn't the best thing to admit to to someone you've just met.... but, whatever. Sharing is caring. ] -so the fact that we've got this place, fully stocked or not?

Already something to appreciate.

Please, please definitely do not give yourself dental floss stitches unless I am gone or down or big and green.

[Good Lord.]

[ Don't look at him look that!! ]

Hey, desperate times call for desperate measures. Not all of us have a clinic around every time we need one.

So I'm guessing you were... primary school teacher? PA?

[ Dean stares for a second... a really long second before he barks a single laugh. ]

Can you really see me standing in front of a classroom? I mean, 'a' is for asshole, right?

Accountant? Insurance claims adjustor?

[Bruce ventures, lightly.]

You might wanna quit before you hurt yourself. [ Though he might be smiling a bit because boy those are so off base it's unbelievably funny.

But yeah, okay- let's do this. Time for a reveal that he doesn't usually give away so easy but considering this place and its monsters? It seems sort of imperative to fess up quick. ]

I'm ah- i'm a Hunter.

And I take it you're not referring to ducks, bucks, or whatever else.

[Says Bruce, now a little more openly acerbic- he'd thought it'd be something like this.]

I got nothing against the cute furry critters, no.

[ Bring on the sarcasm, buddy. ]

Then what exactly is it that you hunt?

The Boogieman and all his little buddies. Y'know. The usual.

Monsters.

And if you were talking to one now?

[ That gives him a significant amount of pause, his brow slowly furrowing as his head cocks, as if trying to see the situation from a different perspective. Because now he doesn't know what he's dealing with and he's gotta wonder how worried he should be. ]

Depends on what they're dishin' out.

I had a lab accident a few years ago.

[Bruce explains, putting his back to the wall, folding his arms over his chest, looking as serene and calm and small as possible.

Yes, he is that Bruce Banner.]

... A lab accident.

[ Wait. Wait. Spiderman would never call himself a monster, and he had a lab accident too, right? So who-- Oh my GOD. ]

You mean a lab accident inside a real lab with the chemicals and the white coats and the-- [ Take a deep breath Dean Winchester. ] Gamma radiation?

[ Don't mind the fact that he's grinning like a very excited small child. ]

Yes, actually. It's very dangerous stuff to be exposed to.

[But all the same, that's a weird coincidence to bring up. Bruce is watching him closely now.]

It gave me trouble with- you could say my temper?

[ Cue Dean looking absolutely gleeful - fuck the monster crap, his fists all but ball from utter excitement, taking a few wandering steps closer with about all the intrigue in the world because while he knows better when it comes to meta and its role in his own life, he can't help himself. ]

You're the Hulk, aren't you. Aren't you. [ Don't deny him this happy moment. ] I mean- the real live Incredible Hulk, the big green guy?

...you're from my world?

[Says Bruce, eyes immediately going wide in surprise.]

I mean, you know us? Iron Man, and the other Avengers?

[ WHAT IS THIS DAY, it is the best day. If Dean could just fall on the floor and roll around he would but at least he has a modicum of dignity to his name.

Ish.

Sort of.

But really, he should know so much better than this. He has books written about his own life and that wasn't fun to discover but he has terrible blabber-mouth syndrome and he just can't help himself. ]

No, I just- Y'know. I've heard things. Good things- well, maybe not good, but you know what I mean right?

You're not from my world, but you have heard things.

[He echoes, flatly, eyebrows ticking up.]

[ Just gonna cough a few times and then clear his throat innocently enough, waving one of his hands a bit as he starts to explain: ]

So, okay- i'm back home, right? Bout five years ago now, on a case, we find out there's these books called Supernatural. Got this weird cult following, and the thing is? These crappy ass books are about me and my brother. Our whole lives, the whole damn things. They've even got these... conventions that people go to. About us.

I mean, we found out a prophet'd been writing 'em, but still. People out there thinkin' we're just characters in a book.

Sounds like Steve and the Captain America comics.

[Bruce observes, though of course that's a little different- Cap was created to be a star spangled man with a plan, a pr figure, a deliberate subject of that sort of thing.

Dean, on the other hand, seems to have just found out one day that people have read about his life.

It's on this thought that the penny drops, and Bruce's eyebrows shoot up into his hairline.]

[ Dean waits for it. And waits for it.

Aaaand waits for it, and-- Oh. There it is. That moment of horrified recognition, when you've been confronted with the fact that your life is on display for mass media consumption. Dean gives a slow, heartfelt sort of nod and grimaces almost apologetically. ]
