Video 5 - Sewing Shop
[the video opens on the Sewing Shop, Margaery sitting in front of the camera with her legs crossed neatly at the knee and wearing this. there are three finished items on dress forms in the background and a small stack of bolts of fabric]
Hello, everyone! I wanted to let you know that the Sewing Shop is open for business. Please stop by if you need your garments mended or if you need something new that you can't find in the shops. I know how hard it is to find things that fit properly there.
I'm also available to give sewing lessons should you wish to learn! It's a very useful skill to have, especially here where anything can happen.
[Private to Abigail, Daenerys, and Maglor]
I have something ready for you. Feel free to stop in anytime to pick it up!

[Private to Abigail, Daenerys, and Maglor]
I have something ready for you. Feel free to stop in anytime to pick it up!
action.
Well, we had many board games, also sports. And, we have many gods, thought sometimes, from time to time, some were renamed, other were favored for some periods depending on the current king's preferences until another took over. They were all respected and praised but also, we considered them our friends. Most of them represented things like... the Sun, which is our most important, we named him, Horus or Ra. There is Atem, the creator God who gave life to all them; Osiris, the god of the Underworld; Ma'at, the Goddess of Truth and Order, of Law and Justice; but, there also were gods of fertility, of ...cats... 「He gives her a sheepish look, it's serious business, yo.」 So, yeah, we have many gods...
And, don't worry, I miss it, but, for me... I know it's not all lost. I've told you this before, I do believe there is something more after death. So, my home no longer is those ruins, my home lies in another plane of existence, and someday, who knows, I might finally get there. I'm not alone, I got... people here, like you. I also had people in the modern world, so, feel no pity for me.
「Funny, saying it, does make him feel less alone than he had been feeling all these past months.」
No, my kingdom was in Egypt, he... 「He curls up his fist and show is it to her, pointing at a random spot.」 I was here, while he lives here. At the other side of the world.「And he points at another spot, completely opposite from the one before, he doesn't have a globe with him, that will have to do.」
It might be the same world I guess, or very, very alike, in regards of technology, and maybe even the era we are living now.
action.
That's very different from Westeros. We have the Faith of the Seven and the Old Gods, but none of them were our friends. They were at best sources of mercy. At worst? They were Death Incarnate.
Were you named after Atem, the creator God? And I can think of worse things to be god over than to be the god of cats. Cats are beautiful, they're soft, they make people happy. I'd much rather have gods who are my friends. As it is right now, I don't think I can believe in gods anymore. Not here. Not after what I experienced back home.
Yes, I remember you telling me that. I hope you're able to find your home again someday. It would be--too cruel if you're not. But yes, in the meantime you have us. And it's not pity. It's the concern of one friend to another.
[good, no one should have to feel alone. especially not in a place like this]
[she watches him carefully] The other side of the world! It must be amazing to know what's on the other side and be able to go there.
I suppose there's no way of knowing, not until we actually arrive. Isn't it . . . strange that so many of us are from Earth or want to go there.
action.
Do you happen to know Daenerys...?
Yeah, I was. I guess it is as someone once said... my father had some high hopes for me. Also, cats kept our crops free of vermin, they were highly praised. And they are... soft, yeah. 「He really, really likes them.」 I don't blame you, though, for not believing, as long as you don't stop believing in something all together, gods or not gods.
「To stop believing meant to stop having hope.
Her concern, though, it makes him smile, so... are they good now? He was worried that he would have messed up too badly, she had held that sentiment with her ever since, if he had known better, same with Delmar, he could have fixed it sooner.」
Heh. I know, It's so easy nowadays. But the Door does seem to bring an awful amount of people from Earth...
action.
Your father and my father were alike. They both had high hopes for us. Mine was determined that I be queen. What did yours want of you? And cats are very useful for that kind of thing. The Reach's wealth comes from farming, orchards, and vineyards, so we needed a lot of cats, too. [she also likes cats. growing up, she had a white cat named Visenya, named after one of Aegon the Conqueror's sister-wives] I believe in love. I believe in mercy and courage and perseverance. None of those things can be found in the gods of my world, but they can be found in people.
[she has hope. she's still determined to go to Matt's world when she leaves and that hope helps her persevere.
they're good now. had she remained in Westeros, she wouldn't have forgotten a slight of any kind, but things are different here. she has actual friends here, not just allies. and she has found that she prefers having friends]
So very many! It makes me wonder if there are many different kinds of Earths.
action.
「That would explain some things.」
My father... I guess he wanted what every father wants for their children. 「Earthly gods or not. He wanted him to be safe, to be happy... He had showed him to him when he offered himself to the gods, and then, he died...」 Or most of them.
There are. My Earth is not like anyone's, as I've gathered. There are similitudes, and yet they are so different.
action.
[she'd be curious to know what things it would explain]
To be safe and happy? [though, in Margaery's case, she was raised with the sole purpose of becoming queen. she was taught and trained since birth to that purpose. some of it was the kind of education every young noble lady of Westeros would have. and then there were the lessons on seduction, on being the kind of woman who can be whatever a man wants her to be and make it all seem like it's what she truly wants] At least I think that's what most fathers would want for their children.
...oh, dear. That's going to make it difficult for the gods to pinpoint which world has my Matt.
What is your Earth like?
action.
Yup. I think so too. 「He was the very same, born to be god in earth, stuff was taught, except his father probably did spoil him a little bit. As she probably saw, he wasn't very... princely.
... Oh, right, he hadn't thought of that.」
Hmm, it's got... card games.
action.
Yes. That's the ideal. [too bad it often doesn't happen in practice. and Margaery, despite all appearances, wasn't spoiled. she was rewarded for a job well done. she was rewarded often.
she thinks about it often. worries that she won't be able to achieve her goal of reunion]
What kinds of card games?
action.
「With a rather studied movement, he brings his deck from its case in his belt, and handles it to her.」
It's a game called Duel Monsters, though... It's become quite the popular there.
action.
[she takes the cards carefully and fans them to have a better look]
Duel Monsters? How do you play it?
action. rood DW posting without my permission
Or the very right one.
He starts a very detailed explanation on how the strategy game works, how trap cards, magic cards and of course, monster cards work together to defeat an opponent. He even gives her a little example and in general, he just seems planly happy nerding about the thing.」
And that's how you play Duel Monsters. There are thousands of different cards out there and so many strategies one can come up with, you'll never find a deck alike another and one sole strategy will not fit them all, but that's what makes it interesting.
action. naughty DW!!
let's go with "the very right one."
she listens and observes very carefully. this is clearly something very important to him and the least she can do is listen to his explanation. and it's interesting! they have nothing like it in Westeros and she can see how it would be a fun way to spend time]
So everybody creates their own deck, judging for themselves what strategies might serve them best? That's fascinating! How did you first learn how to play?
action.
「Oh, that question.」
Hmm... It's a little strange, actually... This game... it seems it has followed me over lifetimes.
「He stares fondly at a few cards, these cards, in specific. Margaery didn't have the chance to witness the real monsters he had summoned during the Null attack, and he no longer is able to do it without a Millennium Item, what a shame. Daenerys' dragons paled at their magnificence.」
Back home, we were able to summon monsters into the real world with the use of magic, these monsters were sealed in stone slabs. We used them to defend our country from invaders or other dangers. Millennia after my passing, a man named Maximillion Pegasus created the game, basing his ideas in the hieroglyphs and carvings on the stones he found in what was left of our temples. And when I was awoken into the modern world, destiny guided me back somehow to the game. I was good at it. Like, really good.
「He doesn't sound as if he were bragging more than stating a fact.」
So... you could say that's how I first learned the game, back home. I guess my connection to the ancient spirits represented in the cards made it easier for me, I don't know, it was familiar to me somehow, even if for a while, I couldn't remember why.
「Hopefully, that's not terribly confusing to her.」
action.
[no, she was busy ferrying people to safe zones during the Null attack. she didn't really have time to see what other people were doing during the attacks. well. other than going with Delmar and Hayden to find Harlan and Michael's bodies]
Really! So you wouldn't necessarily have to field an army to fight your battles? At the same time, those monsters must have been incredibly precious. And is that why you were awoken when you were? Because Maximillion Pegasus came to your temples and found the hieroglyphs and carvings? It would make sense that you were good at the game. It was based on your home's symbols and monsters.
[she takes it as a fact, not as bragging. to her, it's only logical that he would excel at a game based on his home's culture]
How did you learn why it was so familiar to you?
[it's a lot of information, but it's not confusing]
action.
「Funny, he's never been asked that question... Not here anyway.」
I've had people telling me it was destiny, that the time had come, I don't know for sure. But that's the way things developed for me.
「There is a lot of more than just the game though, maybe he should tell her the whole story, but it's long and confusing...」
I eventually remembered where I came from.
action.
[she figures he must be at least a thousand. he did, after all, refer to millennia]
I used to think we all had a destiny. Then I died and came here and I'm not so certain anymore. But whatever the cause, I'm glad it happened.
[most stories are, in her experience]
That must have been a relief.
action.
You know? I had a-- 「He trails off for a second, he's still not quite sure how to even call him. Friend or rival?」 friend, that more than once showed me that destiny is not all there is, that one can shape our future. All the odds were against him, and he fought against them all, and he won. I don't see why you cannot shape your future as well, Margaery.
「As for himself, however, had a duty to fulfill, it was his destiny to go back where he belonged and he had accepted it fully. It came back with his memories... It was a relief yeah, but also a burden, one he also had accepted. Being king wasn't just about who had the power, it was about taking letting go of oneself, for a better good. So, he simply nods at that.」
action.
she nods] Your friend sounds wise. And very determined! And, I shall. Both here and when I'm allowed to go to Matt's world. Here is a trial because one never knows what the so-called gods will put us through next. And Matt's world will be an adjustment because of so much technology and knowledge that I don't have and will have to learn. But I must remain confident in myself.
[perhaps that's what sets the great kings apart from the good or average kings. the ability to let to of oneself for the greater good. if you asked her, Margaery wouldn't be able to name a king who truly did that since Jaehaerys, First of His Name, and the Good Queen Alysanne]
action.
Technology can be surprisingly easy to learn from my experience. We didn't have any of that back home, and sure, it was surprising when I first but eventually... I mean, look at you, you learned how to use the cellphone just fine.
「But he also had a lot of help with that, surely she will as well.」
action.
After much trial and error, yes. I was helped by having Matt there. He was blind and I was ignorant but betwixt the two of us, we were able to teach me how the phones work. And I'm sure that I'll be able to adjust to his world, given some time and patience.
[she's been told of the subway, taxis, and 24 hour Chinese takeout, so that's a start?]
action.
「She's got everything she needs!」
Hey, have you ever ridden a bike?
( ooc: MY FRIEND i'm so sorry i... 8| should not tag half asleep ... i've been eating half of my tags all this time lsdmflsd i'm so embarrassed, i'm sorry! kudos to you for making sense out of broken sentences! i'll be more careful, i promise )
action.
[the sewing will come in handy with a job. perhaps she can design clothes for other people?]
No, I can't say that I have. Why do you ask?
[ooc: it's fine! you haven't seemed like you've been struggling to me and I've been enjoying this thread very much. so, please don't worry?]
action. <3
I've also heard New York is the world’s fashion capital.
「Something surely she'd... like? She can make beautiful garments, surely her abilities wouldn't go missed and could give her a job or something. Just imagine, Margaery, fashion designer.」
Ah, well, maybe it's time to get a little more familiar with other modern stuff. If you want...
action. <3!
So I'd need to get used to modern fashions. Jo mentioned something called shorts?
[she'd likely excel in that particular trade. she'd have to make sure that the spotlight on her didn't compromise Matt's secret identity, but it's something she'd be interested in pursuing]
I do want. It would be best for me to know what I'm getting myself into before I arrive.
action.
「Why does he even know this stuff? Blame Hollywood.」
Exactly! Generally people in New York get on the subway or in cabs but, why waste so much money when you can drive around without worrying about traffic. Did Matt ever told you about traffic?
「This conversation has turned into the weirdest thing. Not that he minds at all!」
