Video 5 - Sewing Shop
[the video opens on the Sewing Shop, Margaery sitting in front of the camera with her legs crossed neatly at the knee and wearing this. there are three finished items on dress forms in the background and a small stack of bolts of fabric]
Hello, everyone! I wanted to let you know that the Sewing Shop is open for business. Please stop by if you need your garments mended or if you need something new that you can't find in the shops. I know how hard it is to find things that fit properly there.
I'm also available to give sewing lessons should you wish to learn! It's a very useful skill to have, especially here where anything can happen.
[Private to Abigail, Daenerys, and Maglor]
I have something ready for you. Feel free to stop in anytime to pick it up!

I have something ready for you. Feel free to stop in anytime to pick it up!
video.
Yes, that would be possible. Please stop by so I can get to work on it.
[that is a very big tear]
video. ➝ action.
Tl;dr: he's the biggest dumb, cue little smirk.」
Thanks, see you soon.
「Roughly fifteen minutes later he gets to the sewing shop, he knocks but lets himself in not wanting to distract Margaery from whatever she may be doing.」
Hey.
action.
All right. I'll be here.
[she looks up from a bolt of teal fabric she'd unwrapped on one of the sewing tables]
Hello, Atem.
action.
He leaves his folded jacket on the table.」
Something happened?
action.
she picks it up and unfolds it to examine the tear]
You don't remember?
action.
There is a terrifying feeling that maybe he did forget something—it wouldn't be the first time and it's already setting off alarm bells inside his head.」
Care to refresh my memory?
「Don't pussyfoot around him, Margy, bluntness is appreciated in his town.」
action.
she remembers her time as a child perfectly and doesn't understand why he's acting like he doesn't.
she opens her mouth to respond, then closes it again, her training in maintain a façade warring with her desire to be frank with him. eventually, she opens her mouth to speak]
You don't remember scoffing at my country's customs when we were children?
[she knows, but it's haaaaaaaard]
action.
There is obviously something wrong, he's not sure if it's about him or something else, so it is until she speaks that his eyes widen, blinking incredulously after.
Okay, yeah, he remembers that. He didn't think she'd take it to heart. She looks actually mad about it.」
I... Yeah, I remember. I didn't think it was something serious to be angry about.
「He was seven!」
action.
acting like it wasn't a big deal isn't helping, unfortunately.
she did take it to heart. she's tired of her homeland being treated like an uncivilized backwater. she's well aware of its faults and problems, but it was still her home.
she sighs] It's just--I realize that Westeros hasn't the advantages of most places, but that doesn't mean its customs can be brushed aside as though they're barbaric.
[so was she!]
action.
I didn't... 「He stops half way, closes his mouth and all because, yeah, he did mean it, he did just exactly what she said he did. He feels a little ashamed now.
But they are, aren't they... Don't tell her that, dude.」
I'm sorry. I didn't meant to offend you, Margaery. My... home wasn't exactly perfect either, if that helps any.
action.
You did. [she's had others act the same way, like her world was lesser than theirs because it wasn't technologically advanced, because they still had royalty, because it had been torn apart by war. because, because, because.
no, definitely do not tell her that]
I accept your apology. I know my home isn't perfect or even. . . good. Believe me, I of all people know it all too well. But it still hurt.
What is your world like?
action.
He leans his hips again the table and muses the question before answering.」
My world and my home are two different things. My home no longer exits, it's been a long time ever since, it's now been forgotten and in ruins; it's true, we didn't have that kind of entertainment as yours did, our traditions were, more peaceful, I guess. We liked games much more, and 「He smiles a little to himself, as he remembers. It's been a long, long time ever since he spoke about his home.」 we loved drinking. Every celebration to the gods was huge, it lasted days.
But we... We lacked knowledge, our army wasn't the strongest either. Without the help of magic, we would have been defeated by our enemies, my kingdom would have disappeared way before its time. It lasted for a few millennia, but eventually... I haven't known any ancient civilization that is still standing.
「A beat.」
And my world...? I guess it is very much like Matt's. Did he ever tell you about it?
「Except, with card games!」
action.
she folds her hands in her lap as she waits for him to speak.
she closes her eyes briefly when he says that his home no longer exists. she knows that feeling, even though Westeros is still out there somewhere. but for her, it no longer exists] Westeros didn't used to be one country. It used to be seven, all seven constantly warring with one another. Perhaps that's why we prefer warlike entertainments? [she smiles at the description of his home] What sorts of games did you play? And what were your gods? I--I must say that I think I would prefer gods who wanted their subjects to enjoy themselves. Not like the so-called gods here who torment us or the Faith of the Seven who demand purity and austerity.
So you lost your home a long time ago? I'm sorry. That must be--difficult. And I know that you, too, know the weight of a crown. To be the only one left must be . . . lonely. Terribly lonely.
He told me about Hell's Kitchen in New York City and of America. Not much beyond that. You're from there, too?
[a very important distinction]
action.
Well, we had many board games, also sports. And, we have many gods, thought sometimes, from time to time, some were renamed, other were favored for some periods depending on the current king's preferences until another took over. They were all respected and praised but also, we considered them our friends. Most of them represented things like... the Sun, which is our most important, we named him, Horus or Ra. There is Atem, the creator God who gave life to all them; Osiris, the god of the Underworld; Ma'at, the Goddess of Truth and Order, of Law and Justice; but, there also were gods of fertility, of ...cats... 「He gives her a sheepish look, it's serious business, yo.」 So, yeah, we have many gods...
And, don't worry, I miss it, but, for me... I know it's not all lost. I've told you this before, I do believe there is something more after death. So, my home no longer is those ruins, my home lies in another plane of existence, and someday, who knows, I might finally get there. I'm not alone, I got... people here, like you. I also had people in the modern world, so, feel no pity for me.
「Funny, saying it, does make him feel less alone than he had been feeling all these past months.」
No, my kingdom was in Egypt, he... 「He curls up his fist and show is it to her, pointing at a random spot.」 I was here, while he lives here. At the other side of the world.「And he points at another spot, completely opposite from the one before, he doesn't have a globe with him, that will have to do.」
It might be the same world I guess, or very, very alike, in regards of technology, and maybe even the era we are living now.
action.
That's very different from Westeros. We have the Faith of the Seven and the Old Gods, but none of them were our friends. They were at best sources of mercy. At worst? They were Death Incarnate.
Were you named after Atem, the creator God? And I can think of worse things to be god over than to be the god of cats. Cats are beautiful, they're soft, they make people happy. I'd much rather have gods who are my friends. As it is right now, I don't think I can believe in gods anymore. Not here. Not after what I experienced back home.
Yes, I remember you telling me that. I hope you're able to find your home again someday. It would be--too cruel if you're not. But yes, in the meantime you have us. And it's not pity. It's the concern of one friend to another.
[good, no one should have to feel alone. especially not in a place like this]
[she watches him carefully] The other side of the world! It must be amazing to know what's on the other side and be able to go there.
I suppose there's no way of knowing, not until we actually arrive. Isn't it . . . strange that so many of us are from Earth or want to go there.
action.
Do you happen to know Daenerys...?
Yeah, I was. I guess it is as someone once said... my father had some high hopes for me. Also, cats kept our crops free of vermin, they were highly praised. And they are... soft, yeah. 「He really, really likes them.」 I don't blame you, though, for not believing, as long as you don't stop believing in something all together, gods or not gods.
「To stop believing meant to stop having hope.
Her concern, though, it makes him smile, so... are they good now? He was worried that he would have messed up too badly, she had held that sentiment with her ever since, if he had known better, same with Delmar, he could have fixed it sooner.」
Heh. I know, It's so easy nowadays. But the Door does seem to bring an awful amount of people from Earth...
action.
Your father and my father were alike. They both had high hopes for us. Mine was determined that I be queen. What did yours want of you? And cats are very useful for that kind of thing. The Reach's wealth comes from farming, orchards, and vineyards, so we needed a lot of cats, too. [she also likes cats. growing up, she had a white cat named Visenya, named after one of Aegon the Conqueror's sister-wives] I believe in love. I believe in mercy and courage and perseverance. None of those things can be found in the gods of my world, but they can be found in people.
[she has hope. she's still determined to go to Matt's world when she leaves and that hope helps her persevere.
they're good now. had she remained in Westeros, she wouldn't have forgotten a slight of any kind, but things are different here. she has actual friends here, not just allies. and she has found that she prefers having friends]
So very many! It makes me wonder if there are many different kinds of Earths.
action.
「That would explain some things.」
My father... I guess he wanted what every father wants for their children. 「Earthly gods or not. He wanted him to be safe, to be happy... He had showed him to him when he offered himself to the gods, and then, he died...」 Or most of them.
There are. My Earth is not like anyone's, as I've gathered. There are similitudes, and yet they are so different.
action.
[she'd be curious to know what things it would explain]
To be safe and happy? [though, in Margaery's case, she was raised with the sole purpose of becoming queen. she was taught and trained since birth to that purpose. some of it was the kind of education every young noble lady of Westeros would have. and then there were the lessons on seduction, on being the kind of woman who can be whatever a man wants her to be and make it all seem like it's what she truly wants] At least I think that's what most fathers would want for their children.
...oh, dear. That's going to make it difficult for the gods to pinpoint which world has my Matt.
What is your Earth like?
action.
Yup. I think so too. 「He was the very same, born to be god in earth, stuff was taught, except his father probably did spoil him a little bit. As she probably saw, he wasn't very... princely.
... Oh, right, he hadn't thought of that.」
Hmm, it's got... card games.
action.
Yes. That's the ideal. [too bad it often doesn't happen in practice. and Margaery, despite all appearances, wasn't spoiled. she was rewarded for a job well done. she was rewarded often.
she thinks about it often. worries that she won't be able to achieve her goal of reunion]
What kinds of card games?
action.
「With a rather studied movement, he brings his deck from its case in his belt, and handles it to her.」
It's a game called Duel Monsters, though... It's become quite the popular there.
action.
[she takes the cards carefully and fans them to have a better look]
Duel Monsters? How do you play it?
action. rood DW posting without my permission
Or the very right one.
He starts a very detailed explanation on how the strategy game works, how trap cards, magic cards and of course, monster cards work together to defeat an opponent. He even gives her a little example and in general, he just seems planly happy nerding about the thing.」
And that's how you play Duel Monsters. There are thousands of different cards out there and so many strategies one can come up with, you'll never find a deck alike another and one sole strategy will not fit them all, but that's what makes it interesting.
action. naughty DW!!
let's go with "the very right one."
she listens and observes very carefully. this is clearly something very important to him and the least she can do is listen to his explanation. and it's interesting! they have nothing like it in Westeros and she can see how it would be a fun way to spend time]
So everybody creates their own deck, judging for themselves what strategies might serve them best? That's fascinating! How did you first learn how to play?
